Looks like being a nail biting final race of the season for Legends this weekend. Only about 40 points difference between Colin Noble and Jamie Clarke!!!! Colin had a poor Croft with mechanical problems only finished in 8th. I expect a busy week getting cars sorted and testing on Saturday to make sure all well. That draw from the hat after familiarisation on Sunday will make an interesting start to the day, SMRC need to get that broadcast live on their radio/speaker system. Could well decide the Scottish Championship ...... one thing for sure I'm starting from the back ...... I wouldn't want to be infront of Colin at the start of any of the races!!

Final race?? I thought we'd get to see the Legends at the last meeting as well - what happened? Sounds like the championship is very close there, then - looking forward to seeing it all unfold as the day goes on

Scottish Legends took extra rounds 2 at Anglesey and 2 at Croft to end their season on 14th September.
A number of the Top Scottish Legends going to the World Series in America and the cars are due to get flown out there around about the last Knockhill meeting. The car I bought was being prepared for Jamie Clarke to race at the last meeting last year as his own car was winging its way to America. Turned out Jamie wasn't able to race it so I had part prepared car to work on over the winter ready for this year.
I did wonder about entering the Special saloons & sports car race and using slicks. Unfortunately Legends are not listed as qualifing as a Kit car and we have one too few seats!!!

Lol, shame, that - I'd love to see a Legend in the S&S races! I see why there's no race now - shame, though, as it won't be the same with no Legends on the bill. Maybe there should be a non-championship race for the drivers who aren't going to America? The fans would definitely appreciate it :cheese:

Scottish Legends took extra rounds 2 at Anglesey and 2 at Croft to end their season on 14th September. Bah - they should be concentrating on their home market before going to "foreign" lands It's very disappointing to know there won't be any Legends at the last round - in fact the last round looks like being pretty sparse... no Legends, no Historics, no Minis, no visiting Series... that's between 5-7 races less than usual. On the plus side there are double Fiestas and Saloons and Sportscars but unless they have qualifying races (unlikely) that isn't going to help make the day too much longer... Add one FFord race and one Caterham race and you've got.... six races. Ummmmm.... that's going to make the journey to and from Knockhill longer than all the races! If it wasn't for the double Fiestas I'd probably not bother going - sounds like a bit of a disappointing end to the season.

No Mini's, no historics sounds like a dream.. No legends, sounds like a nightmare Not going this weekend but might have to reconsider to see some legends, maybe. 2 XR2 races sounds like trouble tho in the last meeting!

Sorry I'll need persuading not to go now... Reid aims to be a knockout at Knockhill. (09/09/2003) Though the British Touring Car Championship won't be visiting the Scottish circuit of Knockhill in the 2003 season, MG XPOWER driver Anthony Reid just can't keep away, as he tackles the circuit with an MG ZR in the MG Mayflower Trophy next weekend.
Scotsman Reid, who has been featured in numerous newspapers of late following his well-publicised spat with Frenchman Yvan Muller in the Brands Hatch post-race compound, went to school just five miles down the road from the track so you can safely call it his local circuit.
Following his encounter with Muller, Anthony gained backing from famous British boxing equipment producer Lonsdale, and has featured in a number of newspapers over the past weekend, but racing at Knockhill should offer an altogether different challenge.
The MG Mayflower Trophy is a hotly contested championship run by the MG Car Club on behalf of MG Sport and Racing and features a field of MG ZRs and MG TFs as well as some of the older MGFs.
At Donington Anthony got to meet with a couple of his forthcoming sparring partners for the Mayflower match-up, with current championship leader Barry Benham and emerging star Colin Willmott on hand.
Anthony should do well considering his local knowledge, but is he taking the task a little too lightly? “It should be great, it's obviously not so much of a contact sport as this…” he said referring to the tussle of the British Touring Car Championship.
“We have our moments…” offered Barry Benham in retort, and judging by the close nature of the racing in the Mayflower, Anthony should need his wits about him.
Benham is competing in the same MG ZR class in which Anthony will race and he has rather a good record in the series with eight finishes, the lowest being in second place.
“I'm looking forward to picking up some tips with Anthony on the circuit,” said Barry before Anthony interjected, “with me you'll just pick up bad habits…”
With Anthony returning to his duties at Donington, Barry Benham was able to predict the race weekend ahead. “I'm sure there'll be quite a gap between me and Anthony,” he surmised. “I'm sure he'll be behind me by quite a few cars!”
Keep up to date with the MG Mayflower Trophy and how Anthony Reid fares on the official MG XPOWER website www.mg-xpower.com.Had totally forgot the MG's were coming this weekend !

Excellent news there! Looking forward to seeing Reid out on track again - seems like a long time since the touring cars last came up, even if it is only a bit over a year!

NS-R reporting live from Knockhill...well, Iain Cowie's Mansion in Wellwood actually... Bit of MG info (TL will be interested). It turns out that not only Anthony Reid is racing in the MG races but also Colin Turkington. Anthony was doing some schools at the circuit today. Really good weather today although it looks like it might take a turn for the worse during the weekend. Iain's new Caterham is nearly ready - he will be testing it tomorrow. Duncan Vincent was trying to take me out in the rally school today but we were too busy - Iain says it's a good job anyway as he's seen Duncs driving!!! Cheers for now, Nick www.ns-r.co.uk

Bit of MG info (TL will be interested). It turns out that not only Anthony Reid is racing in the MG races but also Colin Turkington. It gets worse and worse!!! I decided I'd keep my dosh for Mount Stuart next weekend. When I could of been watching two of my fav. BTCC drivers at Knockhill. Never mind. Colin goes to Stirling Uni anyway(he did last year) I think so I'd imagine it'll not be too out the road for him.

It gets worse and worse!!! I decided I'd keep my dosh for Mount Stuart next weekend. You, sir, are crazy! Two races full of those MGs you love so much, Reid, Turkington, two Fiesta races (four if more people enter and qualification races are required) plus Legends, Caterhams which are finally getting good and all the other usual suspects.... There are very few things in this world short of being killed tonight that would keep me away from the 'hill tomorrow!!

testing is over the cars are put to bed and everyone waits with baited breath, its the colin and jamie show , with a major support act from derek and ray,
the pressure is on and we will all be out fighting. There was distictly more urgency today in the legends testing with tyre changes and setup changes going on, though derek looked very cool.
car 23 will be in the thick of it tomorrow we are 5th in the championship with not alot of pressure from behind and neading the two in from to not finish 2 heats to have a chance of 3rd ( some chance)
there are 22 legends running with a number of novices and returnees, though it looks like for the first time there will be more running at the leasurly end of the field as various drivers have opted out of the main grid. but that will just make the fighting at the front all the closer.
cheers
lance
ps car is going great , right on pace today with no problems to report.
be there or be square
