It certainly seems like that Dagman! 3 big shunts in my first 4 races, and (racing drivers excuse number one!)........ none of them my own fault. If you look at the series of photo's on Power-images, you can see the accident starting to happen next to me. I managed to get collected by Chris Philip as he is pushed into me by Mike Jenkins. I was proper pissed off too as I had made a cracking start and had got up the inside of Chris who had been in front of me on the grid. I had just about squeezed past when I felt the thump and then found myself heading sideways across the track in front of a bunch of cars. I can remember thinking that this one was definitely going to end in a roll as I hit the grass completely side on. Thankfully the car stayed upright but then I spun backwards across the track and through a gap in the traffic that didn't actually appear to be there. Back in the paddock Chris Philip was convinced it had been me that had caused the shunt, and his spannerman actually made a comment about banger racing. I knew 100% that I hadn't hit him however, and although Chris himself was polite enough it was pissing me off to think i was being held responsible for this one. Thankfully Russel Milloy had an in car of the whole thing unfolding in front of him, and it shows Mike and Chris coming together before heading into me. All in all 4 cars were quite seriously bashed around, the worst being Charlie Thorntons. I felt really sorry for Charlie too as he had made a good move around the outside of the first corner before the carnage piled into him. All in all yet another very expensive weekend.

Nature of the beast that one, and by that I mean racing drivers. You're always right and its always their fault I was towed out for the second time this year this weekend, although at least this time it wasnt due to a smash just my gearbox giving up on the cooling down lap. Last time I was towed out the drivers rear was ~3 hours toed out

Charlie going to the outside at Duffus seems a pretty dangerous place to be putting your car - you've got caught up in 2 accidents this year now being there?

Dave... I've been caught up in both of these accidents too....... and both times I've been right on the inside line. I guess it's just down to pot luck........ and at the moment I'm getting none of it. I think next time I'm going straight down the middle!

Going round the outside at Duffus can work really well and bag a you a load of places, but yeah you do stand a fair chance of being caught up in any first corner skirmishes since pretty much a fact of life that cars will go off to the outside of the track, just where you'll be. So it's a calculated risk. I tried it coming off the back of the grid in May and had to take to the gravel to avoid the accident but then nearly collected Greg at the inside of Leslie's Thankfully we didn't touch, but that was the race where Charlie rolled. Seems to be the gravel that makes cars roll, they just slide on grass but the grass won't slow you down any. Maybe we should have tarmac run-off areas...but can you imagine the lines folk would start taking ;D Baz

barry, even if all the runoff was tarmac you drivers especially fiesta and mini would be staying between the white lines as a little birdie tells me that the clerk is buying new shoes with pointy toes to have more of an impact when he boots your backsides on another note was up at KH last night for the stockies and ened up having a blether with the minimax guys, apparently a certain driver who owns a scrap metal business rolled his car again at oulton testing. i said I guess the castors will be going back on the roof, the mechanic also said a vinyl saying "this side up" is going on the roof along with "if you can read this I have fxxxed it again" on the underside...

Yes we all got a talking to on Sunday morning about corner cutting, unsurprisingly lap times have increased! I wasn't on the naughty boy list anyway and my lap times are irrelevant till my engine works properly.

If the circuit is the driving force behind the focus on 'racing line v corner cutting' maybe it is time for KH to install the concrete corrugated kerbs used at Cadwell? Felt like the car was being hammered every time I touched one and I certainly avoided them whenever possible! They could be used sparingly - you can all guess where!

Personally, I'm more in favour of the idea of tarmac run offs, with close scrutiny of corner cutting and exits. This way is safer and less expensive for competitors, in my view. Just my 2c ... DC

The kerbs used to be more severe but were flattened out to make it more suitable for single seaters. I must admit I prefered it when you had to go round the kerbs rather than go over them to get a good lap time.
