Hello Boy's, Just to let you know we have Antony Reid on the Saturday 25th September 2009 and Robin Liddell on the Sunday 18th October 2009 driving the Guest Mini. Hope those guys are not too slow!!!! The 5th and 6th September 2009 The Managing Director of the real Radio station should be driving the car and as he has raced bike before hopefully not to slow as we do not want the car damaged again. Regarding Mr Sleigh comments above "light contact" steering rack sheared in three places, wish bone bent, sub frame bent, wheel buckled. I am not going to complain or justify anything on this forum; I will post on u tube the video footage from the circuit cameras which show the incident very clearly. (Make your own minds up then). Regarding Skid Markz. The guest who was to drive the car that weekend was unable to do such for personal reasons so at the last min. Knockhill, the SMRC and the owner of the Guest car used this to get additional publicity. It worked, additional people on the gate, headline sports news on the Friday Radio Clyde and Radio Forth and a bit of FUN!!! Hope you watch the footage I will post a link as soon as it is up. Have a good day to you one and all and Club level Motorsport should be FUN. Oi, there is some girls here too, welcome to the forum. Great news about the up and coming guest drivers. It is fantastic to hear Scottish Motorsport on the radio stations and in the Scottish news!

If it's promoted right there's no reason why Anthony Reid can't be a huge draw as well. Maybe a bit of promotion at the BTCC meeting? I see the reason for Skid Markz but I think like a lot of people have said before all the quality drivers that are members of the SMRC should be forced to do it! Thinking DC (no not the Real one.. ), McNish etc, assuming their contracts don't stop them.

I'm evidentally not alone in my thoughts upon the safety of drivers who are not up to the pace, and you don't need to get upset about it... Its my opinion. However if your going to keep selecting inexperienced drivers, It may be an idea to sell the Mini and buy something else to race in a less ferocious championship. Its good to hear you've Anthony and Robin organised and excellent for public interest, it will make a good challenge and good TV. Again I'm not alone in quoting "light damage" so where all that damage came from I can't imagine. I've watched my in car and don't beleive it was from my impact. Look forward to you youtube link... AJK TV have my in car tape so it may shown in the near future. David Sleigh

The guest driver sounded like a good idea when it started. But only on a few occasions did we have a decent driver in the car who anyone had actually heard of and didnt spend their time being lapped and getting in the way.
I dont think anyone but names like David Leslie and Alan Gow will have actually have made anyone turn up to watch who wasn't otherwise going to.
Even names that are semi recognisable have not in my experience brought much to the series anyway. Its not fun having Ian Forrest run you off the road on the main straight in a race he won't even score points in while you try and recover back to the front after dropping down to 7th odd. Or Robin Liddell ram you on the slow down lap after a 50/50 racing incident. (I say semi recognisable, I'd never heard of Liddel before that weekend but apparantly hes a "pro" driver.)
The really slow ones are just a danger to the other drivers and themselves, trying to lap someone down duffus at a 30mph+ closing speed is asking for trouble. Im surprised they havn't caused more accidents and offs for the front runners.
So its either time to ditch the celebrity car unless you can find a driver with a bit of skill or give them a lot more practice to get up to speed.
Seeing Nadine is about 15s or even 17s in one race off the fastest lap is just crazy im surprised the clerk didn't use his discretion to stop her from racing as her difference in speed surely could be classed as dangerous and disruptive to the majority of the other cars on the circuit around her.
Maybe its time to bring in something like F1's old 107% qualifying rule but with something like 110% or 112% so they can't race if they arent up to a reasonable speed.

I can't comment on the recent incidents but I have to say that Sasha was a great addition to the National Ford Fiesta Championship when she 'guested' at Cadwell Park last season. One point though is that in the XR2s years ago, I remember we had a very slow car (no, I don't mean me before you start! ) and that was dangerous when the field lapped it. I remember Ian Forrest ended up on his roof in qualifying due to catching the slow car unexpectedly at the chicane. On one hand, yes, everyone has to start somewhere but the speed differential can be dangerous.... N. www.nicksandersonracing.com

folks i think we should calm down a wee bit here, i can agree with david sleigh and i am amazed that the guest car was so badly damaged as she didnt hit the tyres hard at mcintyres and david didnt hit her hard, as i said earlier it looked as though david did everything to avoid her but as i havent seen the broken parts so have to take darkar's post as true
i am also agreeing with andrew yes bring in a percentage of pole time say even 120%
the thing is that if they wanted good racing drivers they could have had them, Michael Doyle wanted to do it and he is quick but clean
(as usual my posts are my own opinions and should be treated as such)

Hello Again, I find quite a lot of the comments very serious and some even personnel. I find some totally incorrect and as all racing drivers should have read the blue book prior to racing every year, I find it strange to read some comments from them. There is a rule regarding poll time to slower cars but like most rules it is at the clerk on the day to make that decision. Regarding the selection of the Guest drivers. Can anyone please suggest any guests that are willing to do this and what they can bring to elevate Scottish Motorsport? I will then pass any suggestions to Knochill for them to consider. Daker84 does not select the Guests they provide and pay for the car. The only Guest they put forward for selection was Michelle in the first race as she had her race license and ready to go. (She only got 1 weeks’ notice due to the original Guest pulling out at the last minute Does anyone remembers Michelle? Regarding lapping or passing of slower cars. What would happen if one of the front running cars had a puncture, misfire or any other problem (which does and has happened) they then would be travelling slower to the pits or the Chequered flag? All drivers use their skills and pass when safe to do so. It does not take a brain surgeon to work out who I am and therefore just like most other posts on this forum I won't sign it. Keep the replies fun and sensible without getting personal or offending and Yes the car is for sale at the end of the season.

I think the key point being made is that an experienced driver will recognise they are running slow if they have some problem and will drive accordingly while monitoring whats coming up to them from behind, whereas a novice driver may not know how to handle the situation and may react unpredictably. This allied to a large speed differential is what becomes quite dangerous for both parties. Make sense?

Well I did think it was you David and know your the car owner.... Its just you put some doubt in my mind with the sentance "Knockhill, the SMRC and the owner of the Guest car used this to get additional publicity".
On a positive note I think your providing a good service to the championship and reckon we all appreciate the costs and support you put into it. Some of the people that have driven the car have made the races far more exciting and have helped with our own self promotion.
However the point still stands that in certain cases safety should be the first deciding factor and not publicity.
