Well folks, you won't need red flags at the next meeting. I'll just stand on the tyrewall and wobble my face in a 'waving flag' motion.
Must remember to put suncream on although that's probably our nice day at the hill for another decade!
We had a interesting day on McIntyre - was relatively quiet for once. Plenty overtaking, bumping etc but was all good fun for us. Not a good start when one of the legends blew up and dumped oil everywhere and we had a lot of cement dust going down. Got us nicely warmed up though and ready for the day. Lost count of the number of times our wee tyre wall was taken out and we had to watch it rolling off down the hill ever hopeful that it would roll off the circuit. Not sure who it was but the chap in the ST had one mighty shunt at the bottom of Duffs - hit the wall very fast and hard, went up in the air did 180 spin and landed on the windscreen. Was a bit worrying to see but the driver soon jumped out the car which was good to see.
We had a FF who just cut the corner a tiny bit too much and clipped our mini tyre wall - cue broken suspension which must have been very annoying. Seen a few FF with knackered suspension this time which will hopefulluy be fixed easy enough.
Maybe some of you Legends boys could answer this - I take it Legends really don't like the heat, so many of them were blowing up and we don't see that very often. Sure one of them passed us on fire, there was plenty blue/grey smoke anyway.
Looking forward to the GT's in a fortnight - more of the same weather please but please remind me to put suncream on this time......

Yes you are correct legends dont like the heat. They are air cooled motors run at 90 degrees to the direction they were designed for in a motor bike. This causes extreme heat in the head and can cause the head studs to strip from the block, hence loadsa blue grey smoke!! (Think that was mines on fire briefly in the final )

laughed at myself after the 2nd fiesta race, says to foxy "aye the lads behave there" she then pointed to just before post 8 and the white ST on its roof, doh I was the first one there (well, not before his mates lol), he seemed to take it pretty well oddly enough . He also broke a pipe in the ground by taking a big chunk out of the grass, I wonder what that was for.... Belter of a day weather wise, hopefully we get something similar for June!

Had a good day marshalling on Chicane yesterday. Busy as others have said. Race control awarded us the NCP car park award for most cars collected over the course of the day. Expect a pay-and-display sign for the next meeting – proceeds to be donated to Charlie’s fund raising efforts.
Yes Blair your black/white diagonal flag was for “whacking the floppy”. You are lucky as that is an arrestable offence in 43 American states. We can let you off if you off this time if you divulge the identity of Skidz. Not sure if the guest Mini has a novice cross on for all three races (only noticed it in the last one) but that would rule out Alan Brunton? Other suggestions on our post were Ian / Sandy Forrest or Susan Boyle…..
More sunshine in a fortnight please, but maybe turn the thermostat down just a bit. I think our own SMRC classes will be better racing than in the GTs (thirteen entries for Rockingham yesterday).
Anyway never mind that who has the photos/video of the course car spinning at Clarks during the April meeting?

Can i just say how good the marshalling was on Sunday, for us in the Northern Sports and Saloons they never missed a blue flag, and with us lapping some cars 3 and even 4 times, that was an awful lot of blue flags.

All I will say is it is more obvious than you think (to me anyway..) ...

Frustrating couple of races - but still good fun though. Car is so slow in a straight line it's unreal - engine seems to rev ok but it just has no power. Was also getting loads of understeer, especially at the hairpin which didn't help things.
Tried my best to keep people behind me (without being naughty) but proved ultimately futile.
Will upload my videos when I get the chance - some nice footage of Richard, Wayne, Anthony, Martin (x2), Hamish, Dave, Fraser, Blair and several STs sailing past me…
At least the car came back damage free - though I did take out the chicane bollard on the Race 1 restart. Should have a new engine for the June races (which I've been wating for since last August!)

Oh, meant to say, not sure who Skid Markx was but we think it was the bloke wearing Sasha's overalls? Think he was wearing his own race suit - just may happen they are quite similar in design. The concept of "The Skid", as I shall now call him/her, is quite a good idea. I'd imagine "The Skid" will be wheeled out when there's not a genuine "celebrity" in the car. To find out the identity of "The Skid" though you will need to be prepared to wait for many hours, or even days, hidden in the bushes equipped with high powered binoculars. Or you could just ask the Knockhill staff when signing on for testing, and they'll tell you...

they could have had a genuine celebrity driver, BTCC man Micky Doyle was doing nowt last weekend then again Micky is fast and could have been on the podium not in the midfield like skid. okay you dont want a driver getting in the way of guys like Knox, thirwall and sleigh but a rule of no contact should do

well i just found out who it was and its a bit of an anti climax!
I know an ex btcc supports racer and current works driver in FIA GT3 who would definately be up for it (and quick!) if the dates dont clash if they are interested?
