Whoa - it's all kicked off - I thought you meant me then (Nick) but I now realize you meant Nick Clark. Wedgie - you must realize that the FF boys, Caterhams etc are all excellent drivers but it really must be impossible for them to see the white line. I only know what it's like from Saloons and the spped you approch the chichane , in race conditions off-line, the last thing you are watching is a white line. The tyre barrier thingy-me-jig has sorted out the majority of problems with us but in a single-seater that's impossible. ZetecDuncs views should be heard - he has raced XR2's (badly ) and now FF's and he is an instructor at Knockhill so he should know what it's like by now... Don't get me wrong - the marshalls do an excellent job at Knockhill and should be commended but there seems to be some decisions that do not bode well with the drivers, SMRC or general drivers safety - the decisions in question are not down to marshalls themselves but appear to be down to the clerk of the course... Talking about the "floppys" - I've accidentally caught one with my wing mirror before - result: - no wing mirror attached to the car!

Crazy in the extreme... pity the BRDC weren't running the SMRC classes as well as their own I know at least they know how to run a meeting properly.

BRDC were running the meeting! But I know the rain incident and the corner cutting fiasco will not happen again! We have a guardian angel in race control soon!!!!

Sorry to come in late to this but I have to say that my opinion is you just know when you have gone over the white line which ever corner it is. Sometimes its a mistake (run wide, misjudgement etc), sometimes its not. When it isn't a mistake it is essentially cheating in my mind. Now, how the marshalls or CofC police that (other than applying the rule rigidly to everyone who does it), or tell the difference, I don't know. That is perhaps why the top officials need some racing experience to understand the difference in explanations given by drivers. Unfortunately, there are drivers out there who will try and bend the rules as much as they can to get some advantage making it all the more difficult for the officials.
Alan, your suggestion right at the start of this post re positioning of the tyres at the chicance seemed something worth considering.
