Being at Knockhill on Sunday made my mind up, so I ordered up my go racing pack from the MSA on Tuesday, and I got in yesterday.
Phoned up the Docs today to book an appointment to get the medical form filled out, told them it was for a racing licence, ok next Thursday 2.30 she said, and I made the mistake of asking how much they charge for it!
After holding on she came back and said, is there much to be filled in, no I replied just really vision and blood stuff, off she went to get a quote, she came back and said, is it a car racing licence, off she went again and come back and said, we're not sure if we do those, can you phone back next week !!
I said yes, but my god a medical is a medical really! Anyone know of any docs who know they will do it in Ayrshire ?

Hi Blair ive got to say that all pretty strange when i contacted my Docs i said i wanted a full medical and that was all they needed to know. On the day i gave the Doc the medical notes and they done my medical and filled out the forms with no trouble,However i dont recall needing to do a blood test i just had to give a pee sample for the drugs test.If you do need a blood test i doubt the Doc could sign your form there and then as the blood sample would need to be sent away for testing. As for the Fee it was my family's Doc so she didnt charge me.If i was you i would phone again and ask for a full medical and not go into any detail untill you see the Doc.
Good luck with it all.

Yeh I kind of regret asking the price to be honest! By blood I just mean blood pressure etc.

My medical took 10 minutes and cost £30 - really was nothing to it. The GP hummed and hawed about it to begin with as he'd never done anything like it in the past but once they've had a look at the form they're fine as really if you've got nothing in particular wrong with you then it's a walkover.

I phoned the docs back, and I did get a more helpful person, they phoned me back with the fee for it, just to say I wish I had your doc Mike !!! I asked if when they saw the form if they could revise their cost they said no as it was in line with guidelines.
Oh and they don't even take a credit card !!

Booked the ARDS test... will let you know when it is if I pass it.... Any advice greatly appreciated, what is the theory bit like, is it true you must get 100% on the flags, then there's another section thats scenario questions ? Whats the driving part like.. ?

When I was a lad, the ARDS course was very easy. I got 10 out of 10 for the "written" part, it was just 10 multiple choice questions.
The practical part is to show that you are competent behind the wheel at speed. I took it easy because I didn't want to write off the car and I didn't know what I was capable of.
Take it nice and smoothly, there is no reason that they'll fail you.
Remember there is a nice white XR2 waiting for you to purchase when you pass. ;D
