Does anyone like the forrests? Sandy is cocky as god knows what! And Ian said on a post race interview: "I got a good start and was behind a inexperienced guy that isnt normally at the front and he eventually fell off after a few laps. These guys that arent normally at the front cant really handle it so thanks for falling off. I then just went on to win it" How sporting Dave.

I hadn't heard that one! Not at all impressed in that case... I thought Nick did a great job those first few laps!

hey hope you all had a good day (apart from listening to the comments which I think are OTT, shame on you Ian Forrest...)
What were the results today - Top 5, 10 whatever in the XR2's?

Hmmm. I heard that interview too. Wondered if perhaps he'd been in the same race as the one I was watching. Andrew Allan to the best of my knowledge came from the midfield to just miss out on 2nd...which was pretty impressive. It started out looking good for Nick:

1). Ian Forrest 2). Sandy Forrest (by milliseconds) 3). Andy Allan
Nick drove out his skin, was great to see! Just took a wee bit to much speed into mcintyres, ran slightly wide and thats all Ian needed to get along side and then get ahead at the chicane! HARDLY FELL OFF and he was lucky Nick didnt shut the door at the chicane. Allan the got past at Clarks and Sandy had a go but Nick held Sandy off, the Sandy got past! Nick then ran over a side skirt at duffus while over taking a few back markers (great move) and I asume got a puncture as a result as he didnt come round next time! These side skirts have screws, rivets and everything in them!

Hey, you must've been just opposite me and KF, Dave (Fiddes)! We were in the stand at the hairpin (well, at the barrier in front of it when it wasn't raining), and KF's car was parked not far to the left of that shot - just next to the doughnut stand, actually TL, forgot to pick up any results sheets (doh!), but the XR2 race ended something like: Forrest (Ian), Forrest (Sandy), Allan, Cruickshank, Mickel, I believe... Nick was well up there in 4th when he went off at Clark with a few to go, having lead the first few laps Had a word with Charlie at the end of the day, and he said Nick had a collision with Mickel (Mickel had been off-track and came back on, but onto the bit of track that Nick was on), which spun him round and the engine stalled For the rest of our drivers, we're pretty sure Norm finally got that elusive first championship point he was after (actually, more than one, as we think he finished 14th, plus there was at least one driver above him excluded), and John was one place higher, after passing Norm in the last few laps Neil and Ian were fighting with each other and Ross Marshall (son of John) towards the back, or they were till Marshall decided to use Ian as a brake at the hairpin... Ian now has a rather large (and expensive-looking) dent in his front drivers side door and wing Derek meanwhile seemed to be struggling a bit with top speeds - he'd told us before the race that he was hitting the rev limiter too soon, and it seems that problem continued, although at least he got a finish in this time Think that's the rough story of the XR2s for you as far as we know it

Have to agree with the general opinion here. Nick was doing a good job at the front and was still in there when he dropped to 4th. Does anyone know what happened to him ? We were down at Glenvarigill and just didn't see him come round again. We had to leave before the interviews but Ian Forrest does sound like a bit of a muppet spouting stuff like that. Another good day all round I thought apart from the weather, surprise surprise : , typical Knockhill I suppose...lol. A big thumbs up to ALL the drivers who took part ( espescially the ones who visit here ) Jaffa6

Fabulous day's racing that - the XR2s rocked as ever and it was brilliant to see Nick lead for a few laps - well deserved and it was a crushing blow for him to not finish at all after such a good run. Plus if Ian Forrest really said what has been said here (didn't hear it sadly) then he really needs a reality check - he isn't the god he seems to think he is. Well done to Norm for finally getting those points!! Believe John F picked up one or two as well. Shame about Ian's car - we had a word with him afterwards and I don't think he was hugely impressed... the kid Marshall made a right hash of his braking at the hairpin and to coin a phrase "Did a Mylius" on poor Ian - could have wiped out Neil too if they'd been really unlucky!! Glad Derek finally ( )finished a race - seemed to pick up some hefty looking front end damage along with the engine probs. Our Legends drivers fared quite well too - the races were corkers, especially the final. Lance was well in there - especially in the final, battled hard. Gary was on the pace as well - did a great job in the first race but had excursions in the other two - seemed fast though. Interesting machinery on show in the Saloons and Sportscars along with the visiting Northern guys. Loved the Porsche GT2, Marcos Mantis and John Muir battle - real sportscars! Altogether a great day out except for the early rain - nothing hiding in the garages and sipping on ICR coffee couldn't sort though!

As I am sure he will tell us all when he is next online, Nick's car ended up sat in the middle of the track about 50 yards after the exit from Clarks! Nick will give his version I'm sure, but from what I've heard he was pretty hard done by, with Finlay M having run wide exiting Clarks and then caught Nick when he rejoined. Nick span and stalled, and presumably couldn't get it restarted. Or did you just decide to park up in the middle of the track Nick?!
Story also seems to be that the marshals at Clarks wanted to red flag the race, but their radio was broken so they couldn't! Must have been pretty nerve wracking for Nick watching the whole field fly past his car 3 or 4 times....
If the quote from Ian F is correct then I don't think it reflects well on him at all.
GR - your calculations are correct! I finished 14th on the road, but Colin Robertson was disqualified so I got 13th, and think that means a mighty 3 championship points!!! After an exciting first lap things quickly settled down for me and were pretty dull for the middle of the race. However, saw John make it past Alastair Hart on around lap 9 or so, and then slowly reel me in and he eventually got me at Duffus. Pleased overall though (my best ever qualification and best ever final result), especially as the car had been duff on the Saturday.

On the subject of Ian Forrest's comments, I'm really surprised about that - he was larking around with Nick (and Nick's car!) just before the cars went into the assembly area... can't think what's going on.

I was going to say you'll have to change your motto thing under your picture but I see you already have!

For info, Ian F's comments may well be relating to Andrew Martin who was on pole. He is not normally in the top half dozen (though am begining to think he is a bit of a master in the wet/slippy so qualification suited him), and went off at McIntyres (on lap 1 I think) whilst pushing too hard to keep Nick behind him.

Dunno about that - he said (apparently) in the interview that the guy "fell off after a few laps" and I think Martin lasted until Duffus on the first lap or so... Speaking of which - what actually happened there? The commentator said at the time it was a "huge pileup" at the top of the hill.... A couple of cars didn't make it round and about five or six others were sporting very heavy damage - Robertson especially, the front was a real mess...

KF, from what we could see from Glenvarigill there was about 5 or 6 cars on the grass at Duffus, one ended up permanently in the tyre wall and there was dust and car parts flying everywhere so from the comentators tower it probably looked worse than it was...then the guy on pole overdid it at McIntyres, ran wide, came back on and shot straight off into the tyrewall on the inside.
