After months of worrying I finally know what I'm doing...
I got offered a place on a Skillseekers programme at the beginning of August, but due to "advice" ( ) from my brothers I didn't take it.
Couple of weeks ago the co-ordinator phoned me up offering me a place starting 30th September so I took it with open arms. Been there since last Tuesday, although it is quite unchallenging (to me).
But last Thursday, co-ordinator comes to me, says how would you like to go for an interview for an apprenticeship at such and such a place, so says aye. Me and two other boys in the place went, and seeing as I had the qualifications (Graphics at school using AutoCAD! at Higher A level ) and a driving licence I think!, on Monday morning I got offered it!
Good news is I get to get out of this dump I'm in on 10th November when I start at the place, which does ducting for the Heating & Ventilation industry. Then as far as I'm aware it'll be day release to the Glasgow College of Building & Printing for either 3 or 4 years. Not sure what wage is yet but I'd hope it'd be good enough. It's not a manual job, I'll be working off plans for things and calculating how much materials, and equipment is needed (cranes, scaffold etc!!!) and therefore the overall cost.
So there's proof one door leads to another. Just before I started my Skillseeker programme I was about to face signing on... And so so glad those months of worrying if I'd ever get anything are over!
