How much is it to get your car on the track at Knockhill on a trackday? I think it's around £5 for entry to spectate, then £40 to be allowed on to the track?? Just wondering, as the new clucth has done wonders for acceleration.. PS. been wondering about insurance, as I believe most policies don't cover trackdays etc. Is it worth taking the risk of not notifying your insurance company, or will they charge me much more if I phone them up to tell them? I've heard stories of insurance representatives being at the track taking down registration numbers before..

Yeah its £5 or 6 to get in £40 to get on track!
Good luck!
Dave.
P.S. Your insurance will be invalid the moment you enter Knockhill, whether you phone them or not!

..or don't bother risking your car and come out in the ICR two seater car under my supervision instead. The cost depends on how many people want to go out at the HH day - I personally wouldn't risk your road car.
Secondly and much more importantly, if something goes wrong, i.e., your axle breaks and you end up upside down, you have a better chance with a rollcage!

We have a fairly standard road car minus interior but with a full roll cage and uprated suspension and brakes. It's not fast in comparison to the other cars out on track but I can guarantee you that I could scare you in it!
Seriously though, we may be able to sort something out on a HH day - I've taken people out before or instructed so we'll see who wants to come out.
I know that GR and KF would like me to take them out as passengers on track so we'll get it sorted out soon.
I may be able to borrow one of the other cars and put a second seat into it but I wouldn't be able to let you drive that as it belongs to Iain.
Normal rule is when you are on track, you are responsible for the car so any damage regardless whether it is caused by you or by a part failure is paid for by the driver.
At present, we have about a million XR2's, Caterhams and Mini's to get ready for 2003 so it's not exactly a good time! I'll speak to you all about it next time we meet up at Knockhill.

Yeah - it may cost a little more dependent on the amount of people but it's a lot safer using a properly prepared car.
Like I say, I'll take you out as well and give you an idea of what it's like at near-on racing pace.
Cheers, Nick.
