It's with great sadness that I report the passing of John Abott.
John died earlier today after a short fight against cancer.
He was one of the more memorable characters on the XR2 circuit and I think its safe to say that his absence will be noticed by quite a few people.
Rest In Peace John

Oh, no, I'm so sorry to hear that Had no idea he was even ill, although I remember some talk of him needing an operation towards the end of last season... it's a pretty big shock to hear, though. Rest In Peace, John

If anyone would like to write a short obituary for John, I'd like to put it up on the website - myself and KF didn't really know much about him, so we can't do it ourselves, but I'd like to put something on the site about him, if possible.

I'm told that the SMRC have decided to "retire" John's racing number for a few years (I assume they mean number 40) as a mark of respect.
Nice touch and the kind of (non racing) decision that the smrc probably make all the time without anyone getting to know of it.

Good decision by the SMRC there - nice of them to do that
