Jesus! Never knew they were still planning that circuit! The permission was denied few years back wasn't it? I think one of the reasons was that it was too close to Knockhill, and would have an adverse affect on Knockhill.
That's the reason I don't want to see it built. How much character would it have? Probably none. But OTOH, it would be a first class facility (which sadly K/hill isn't). But if it recieves council/government backing then why the hell couldn't Knockhill.
That reminds me, Glasgow Zoo was on the news the other night. Only 40,000 people visit it every year(and probs don't come back) and yet it recieves help. I know it is council run though. But Knockhill can get over 40,000 within two big weekends...why doesn't it get help!!!
argh i've started...!!

no no no - Scotland can't maintain two tracks (it can barely maintain one it seems these days :s ) so this would be an ill-fated idea. I'd hate to see anywhere take Knockhill's place better facilities or not and the people who design tracks these days always create dull and lifeless circuits anyway.
No thanks.

We used to be able to support two circuits. Ingliston is (or was) as close to Knockhill as Forrestburn and both circuits managed to draw fairly decent numbers until Ingliston shut 10 years ago. I think that it was a real shame that Ingliston stopped because of the good marketing it gave Scottish motorsport. Everyone who treked in the A8 could see when the races were on. The circuit was very accessible to folk in Edinburgh and a doddle to get to for folk elsewhere. I'm sure that this had a knock on effect in getting folk interested and going to races at knockhill as well (these days knockhill is a lot better known due to the TV coverage of the BTCC, Powertour). Any new circuit really has to bring something similar in to play IMHO. We don't need another Knockhill stuck in the middle of nowhere. Don't agree with state subsidy of motorsport. Its our sport it should be up to us the fans, competitors and circuit owners to make it fun, sexy and approachable. Of course if the constabulary would just put up a few hundred thousand more speed cameras this might help drive motorsport off the public roads and onto the track where it belongs!!!!

I'm not sure tbh - if it's a good facility and they can recoup the outlay, then i don't see why not - after all, it's a bit strange calling everything a Scottish championship, and yet only ever racing at Knockhill (bar the odd away round at Croft).
I doubt it'll ever have the character of Knockhill (which other circuits do), but if this one can deliver then it might get the BTCC and the like back - personally i'd rather go to a new track in Scotland thatn have to bother with Croft
