I am crying folks... My beloved little Fiesta just went through a hedge tonight. It was a corner I knew well, I knew it'd be icy, but not that icy. He has a bashed bonnet, will need a new bumper and number plate, and the metal bit at the bottom of the nose on Mk3 Fiesta's is bent well back. I don't know if I've done any mechanical damage to it, the gear changing is the only suspicious area at the moment. I really hope it can be sorted, and cheaply out of my own pocket as I DO NOT want the insurance company finding out about this, I only passed my test 2 months ago. Of course I get blamed of going too fast, but I can't remember If I was or not ALL IN ALL: f**k!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeh and I suppose at the end of the day it is only a piece of tin.
But I am so p-d off because now I'm thinking of what I should have done.

Nightmare! Unfortunately, I can't help with MK3 parts, so it looks like off to the scrappies for you my friend - there's plenty of MK3's about and it'll be a lot cheaper than going to Ford.

Yeh, we're now considering the idea of getting a new car as we were due to be replacing our K-reg later on this year.
Been to Arnold Clark and have seen 3 cars, V reg Fiesta 1.3 for £100 per month over 3 years with £100 deposit, and two 106's, one at £80 per month has 37,000 miles on it and one 8 quid cheaper a month with 70,000 miles on the clock.
This morning I had a look at my Fiesta, and it's only selecting 3rd, 4th, 5th and reverse gears, it's as if the gear linkage has been knocked to the left as 3rd is where 1st usually is. As I've said the bumper is wrecked and the bonnet is bashed in a wee bit. Don't think I've bent anything chassis wise, but I'm informatively told the wings have sprung out.....

Also been there, done it, bought the t-shirt and paid the garage bill :blackeye: . Only thing you can do is take it on the chin, file it as inexperience and hope to christ the insurance company shows some mercy.

Also been there, done it, bought the t-shirt and paid the garage bill :blackeye: . Ditto - my first car (Nova saloon) ended up about 2 feet shorter than it should have been thanks to a gimp in a company astra estate who jumped a set of traffic lights and hit me head on. :s Should have been written off but as I worked for an Insurance Brokerage at the time some dodgy dealings and not a small amount of cash got it back on the road again! Not a pleasant experience though - hope yours is fixed soon!

Well as I thought the gear linkage was bent, due to the floor of the car resting on the ground when it went through the hedge. It now manages to select all gears, albeit very far over to the left! (2nd - gearstick is practically touching passengers seat!!) Apparently it's very rotten around the subframe which isn't that nice, come next MOT I think we shall be saying R.I.P. my wee man. Bumper and bonnet will do for now, could do with a good panel beater to bash the nose back into the right shape, anyone know any ideal candidates!?

Where's Charlie when you need him. He could repair it with a roll of ductape - he wouldn't even need a hammer! ;D

Drive it up to Aberdeen next Saturday night, park it at the beach, leave a jackhammer outside Amadeus and be patient. Problem Solved oh, do try to aviod the darker streets - there lies many a surprise  (apparently )

Eh? :angryfire: That a queue for a 200 post smilie bender? Or perhaps more puns? On the bright side, at least you've spent lots of Sundays soaking up the atmosphere at Knockhill, as opposed to feeling half dead smelling like a brewery regretting the events of the night past :uhoh:  :puke:
