I have mentioned this to certain people before but any volunteers to be the XR2 driver rep this year ?
My understanding is that this does not involve becoming an smrc committee member, which I find a bit strange but seems to be the case.

I would love to have done this but it is not possible with being based in Aberdeen. I do not have the time to fire up and down to Edinburgh / Glasgow where obviously all the meetings will be.
Dave C tried to do this before but the travelling and the fact that the SMRC didn't take on any of our suggestions (or consider them) he decided to pack it in.
However, once someone decides to do this role, I would probably be the ideal person to distribute all the latest info via my website - that would help (?)
Nick.

Well I have been thinking about this since I posted. I would rather there is a rep (from outside the current smrc committee, no disrespect intended) than there not be one. So, depending on (a) what the smrc consider the role is, (b) what the drivers consider the role and (c) assuming there is not too much disparity between the two, I could be persuaded to step up to the plate.
I wouldn't want to self appoint myself so Nick, if you think I would be up to it, do you want to make some enquiries, e-mail the drivers you have addresses for etc ? (Using the NSR and this website and a personal email address which I would set up will be helpful)
(What am I letting myself in for???)

John,
I totally agree that you will be an excellent XR2 rep. You may actually get the SMRC to listen to the wants of the drivers.
Dave Colville tried hard but he'd more chance of passing Allan Kieth than getting some of the commitee to change their lines.
Good luck, you've got my vote

I have spoken with Chris Edwards.
2 days after he got my letter there was an SMRC committee meeting where he raised the topic. Seems like enough of the committee thought me becoming XR2 rep was an OK idea and therefore I have been duly elected.
I have asked Chris to send me a list of names, addresses and phone numbers of all the XR2 drivers that have already entered this year and those from last year as well. I will try and make contact with everyone before the start of the season.
I want to chat to him again before putting anything he told me online but he did pass on some interesting stuff.
If there is anything you want guys would like me to put on my list of things to speak to the committee about (and that includes all users of this board, you don't need to be a driver) just email me. That includes any questions you would like me to ask the other drivers etc when I make contact before the start of the season.
Cheers,
John

John - that's great news.
Let me know if you want to use my site for passing information on to all the drivers etc.

Nick,
New car (or at least potential new car) still down south. With all that has gone on up here recently Iain has not had a chance to collect it from Steve Shaw's yet.
