There have been some misunderstandings over some posts made on this forum in the past, and also some cases of people who are unhappy over comments made about them/their friends. So, to try and prevent misunderstandings and other problems, please read and take note of the following guidelines and recommendations.
For Readers:
Please note that the views and opinions expressed in this forum are those of the contributors, and not those of ScottishClubRacing.co.uk or its owners. Catriona Rochford posts here under the username of "Ghirlracer", while Mike Hogg posts as "Knockhill Fan" - any comments made by other people are solely attributable to those people, and are in no way connected to or endorsed by ScottishClubRacing.co.uk. So, if you have a problem with something that a user on this forum has said, please raise it with them personally; the only control ScottishClubRacing.co.uk has over posts on this forum is if we choose to edit them, which we will not do unless they contain clear insults or other undesirable content as mentioned below.
However, please also note that not all comments which may at first appear like insults are actually insults. Many people here enjoy banter with each other, and jokingly make apparently insulting comments, however these are usually not meant at all seriously. If a post which appears to insult someone in fact contains a smiley graphic next to the apparent insult (for example: , etc), then chances are it is intended as a joke. If you are not sure of the intention of a comment, then please do ask; we do not want people to be offended by a misunderstanding.
For Posters:
Please try to avoid insulting other posters/drivers/SMRC officials/other figures within the club racing world. Whilst there are only a few people taking part in this forum, not all people who read the comments here have signed up, and not all who have signed up have done so under their real names, or made their identities clear. Therefore, it is highly possible that someone might read a comment about themselves which is less than positive. Try to think before you post about someone: would you say the same thing to that person's face? If not, then please don't say it here either.
We do not want to have to censor anyone, and will only do so if we feel it absolutely necessary, but you can make things a lot easier for us by trying to remain diplomatic where possible. Yes, sometimes people do stupid things/make ridiculous dicisions, and rightly get criticised for it. But, if you can try to criticise the actions rather than insult the person, that will be the best option to prevent potential problems. As this is a website covering all of Scottish club racing, we need to make sure that all people will feel welcome here, should they visit, and so we want to keep the atmosphere as friendly and respectful of others as possible.
Needless to state, please do not post explicit content, pornography, links to "warez" (illegally pirated software/anything else), racist comments, etc etc. Also note that any extemely insulting comments will be edited by one of the administrators; ie we will tolerate (but not condone) someone calling someone else insane (however should they complain about even a mild insult, we will remove it if we deem it necessary), but if you call them a f***wit it will be edited without any hesitation. Anyone who repeatedly causes problems in this way will risk a ban from posting.
