Great for Lewis Hamilton, first pole and first win, who knows what he would of won by if it hadn't of been for four safety cars.
Totally sickening accident for Robert Kubica in the BMW Sauber, I hate the feeling you get when seeing an accident like that. I have to say the last I felt like that was Luciano Burti's accident at Spa in 2001, I did have everything crossed in both circumstances drivers were ok. Apparently Kubica has got away with a broken leg.

That accident was utterly horrific - when the live feed showed his car tumbling on the inside grass it didn't look totally disimilar to Greg Moore's. I saw that one live and I 'm glad the result was different - probably safe to say the HANS device saved Kubica from the initial head-on impact into the wall. Good drive by Hamilton but for me you can't look past li' Sato for the drive of the day - he was epic.  |

Yeah very nasty crash, he is a lucky boy that safety in motorsport is what it is today or that could have been a whole lot worse, just shows the strength in the cockpit that hitting a wall at 150mph head on it was still intact  Graet drive from Hamilton looks like he has a very bright future in F1  |

Apparently Kubica is to be released from hospital in Montreal this morning, nuffin wrong with him ! Absolutely amazing he's walked away from that shunt.

Cracking result! That means we have two race winners based in Woking!!! I found out at the weekend from our conceirge that McLaren have purchased some apartments in the building where we live for Lewis and Fernando when they're at the factory down the road... Nick. |

Yeah, great race and great result for wee Lewis - could he have BEEN any more happy at the end?? Nice to see some slightly less familiar faces in the final press conference too - Nick and Alex did well. I agree with you, Mike, that Taku was fantastic - I was watching with my parents and we were all willing him to pass Fernando!! For some reason best known to herself, however, my mum was supporting Ralf...until I reminded her that it was he who almost ran me (and others) over when exiting the pitlane at Silverstone last June...  Robert Kubica is a very very lucky young man - I don't know why they felt the need to show quite as many replays of his crash - it was really awful to watch. Did he hit one of the officials' vehicles that were parked in the middle or was it 'just' the wall?? On a lighter note, what about that synchronised spinning (from two drivers whose names have temporarily slipping my mind)?? Bet they couldn't do that again if they tried... |

I watched it back on YouTube Lisa. He leaves the track, takes off. Front right hits what looks like a water filled barrier which explodes, the wheel is ripped off the car then he hits the wall front straight on. He almost hit the parked F1 car that was there, dont know what would have happened if he had hit that, it shouldnt have been there.
Spinners were Rosberg and Truli.

i dont know why everyone seems to think they just left the torro rosso lying on the grass at the edge of the track even Martin Brundle mentioned that, clearly looks to me like its just tucked behind the concrete wall but the angle of the camera is looking straight into the gap for rescue vehicles. Its not a water filled barrier Dave, just a concrete wall. Think he just glanced it so hard you little chips or paint or something flying. Found a youtube clip of someone standing high up on the inside of the hairpin. Shows the layout of the walls well and you can see the torro rosso is well out of the firing line from anyone going off. www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsXYsf5m4Ww |

Right enough Andrew, when you see it from that view you get a totally different perspective. Car is hidden behind a concrete wall. Crash looks even more scary. |

Yeh the speed is unbelievable. He seems to me to be going so quick in comparison to the other cars. I don't know if their's an official explanation, all thats been said is he and Trulli touched.
