Hmm - not sure I agree with this. Have you seen the steady increase in the SMRC bank balance since the late 90's ?? DC

Think this is probably a discussion for the SMRC forums rather than this forum. not taking anything away from this fantastic forum, just that your better to ask the committee these questions rather than talk about previous AGMs and financial statements Kindest Regards k

Loved Tim Harvey's comment in Autosport.. Talking about the complexities of racing a Porsche around Knockhill he said "It's like riding around your living room on a BMX"

That's exactly why the British GT teams voted not to come back next year, apparently.

Henry, you need to start paying a bit more attention to your surrounds! We recognised a chance to promote Scottish Formula Ford at BTCC weekend. We set up 3 FFords outside my workshop in the paddock and were overwhelmed with the interest we recieved.Serious interest from a couple of Mini drivers and probably more important was 3 different guys who have never raced before.Sorry for ranting but some of you guys dont see a lot of what goes on behind the scenes and when you spend almost every day at the track theres a lot of us spend a lot of time trying to encourage new blood to take part. Graham Sorry for walking around with a blindfold on (SO HOW DID YOU GET ON WITH SELLING THE FF WITH THE FOR SALE SIGN ON IT WHICH WAS PARKED AT THE BACK OF THE THREE YOU HAD ON DISPLAY?) oh sorry must pay more attention cant remember the exact phone number on the ad Anyway I think you missed my point, good on you for promoting your own business and trying to recruit new drivers but my main point was about spectators, there could easily have been a SMRC stall at knockhill handing out promotional offers to the thousands of fans there but there was not and I feel its a missed opportunity for our club, I would put money on with you that three quarters of the fans up there on that day could not tell you very much about the SMRC, about what races are on in the SMRC or even when the next meeting is. I dont know how much it would have cost for a pitch maybe round at the other side of the hairpin beside Mr Dryburghs Express Garage door tent but they would have surely made it back 10 fold if they had done. Hope I made my point a little clearer and maybe proved that I was taking in just a little bit of my surroundings ;D

Whats with the I was only making the point that there was a display of cars and dates of when spectators could come to see them race when you said you hadnt seen any. My business is the Ferrari driving course and passenger rides at Knockhill- thats how I have a workshop at Knockhill. FF1600 is my hobby. I am also the FF1600 representative for the SMRC which is why I am encouraging people to get into FF1600. Sounds like the SMRC committee needs someone like you with ideas for promoting it in the future.
