I know this is an old thread but see how GT has stayed off the calendar.. shame as Britcar/GT has been really good this year.. Really miss GT at KH... stil hoping organisers resurrect the Mid-Engined series and bring that to KH instead.// or KH do something with Castle Coombe and expand SpecialGT//

At the GT/F3 meeting at Croft recently there was talk in the paddock that SRO, organisers of British GT and F3, had been approached by Knockhill looking for a 2008 date. There was a positive response because financially the offer was a good one. I would love to see the F3 cars up here and hope that an agreement can be reached.

I remember the Saleen's from a few years ago - they shook the foundations of the circuit !
I'd be delighted to see the F3/GT package back. I get the impression all the teams feel it's too much hassle due to the distance they travel, mind you look at the foreign rounds they hold.

Ideally, the circuit needs to be bigger in terms of run-off areas and wider, but IMHO, if you race at a tight track all you need to do is exercise caution and don't do anything stupid.

Am sure I'd heard the GT folk were fed up with the damage they got up here from kerbs and grounding, not sure how true that is??
Yes, it's tight here with not a lot of run off but F1 runs at Monaco and there's not a lot there either!
GPM, I'm sure I remember you in a on-off F3 race at Knockhill in the late 80s. In fact I have a photo of it somewhere!

They think Knochill is bad!! Pau is ten times worse... Like a mini Monaco - wall to wall walls!!
I was lucky enough to get there a few years ago and wished I had a bought a body shop!!
On the plus side courtesy of Elf I had five laps in an LPG powered race prepared Renault Spider driven by some swarthy French rally champion bloke... That was fun... ;D

Correct I supported the Scottish Superprix in the Eighties.
I have also tried to support the SMRC in the seventies, Eighties, ninties and in the new millenium. Always very difficult when you have no money yourself. As an enthusiastic amatuer it is getting harder and harder to persuade people to invest in motorsport. There are too many taking money out of it and those at the top really do not help. The Halfwits that seem to abound in F1 are the main problem and $100 million fines do not help sell our sport either.

I think teams get fed up of the rain, the wind, the smaller crowds, the poorer tv coverage, the lack of enough garages etc etc.. harsh but true I think

The teams will go where the money is. They went to Bucharest this year where there was no circuit before they arrived never mind roads to get there. It was deemed a great meeting despite the poor track, multitude of accidents, and hospitalisation of numerous drivers. Money talks.
