Back in 2000 when the series was getting started, Knockhill was suggested as a non-oval round aswell - either it's the rumour mill in optimistic mood, or (fingers crossed) ASCAR is seriously considering it

Really hope they're looking at it, anyway - I was planning on going to the 2000 meeting before it got binned at the last minute, and I'd love to see them here if it's possible It's all gone pretty quiet on the information front, so hopefully that German magazine has some inside info Btw, Speedy, 5.26am?? That you still up or up early? Whatever it is, ouch!:snore:

An all nighter brought about by a lethal cocktail of income tax homework, red bull and jaffa cakes - it's beginning to hurt now :blackeye:

It's in todays Motorsport News, too.
Croft, Knockhill and Brands are the 3 venues lined up for next year. It also says that they could be run with the F3/GT package at these circuits due to the promotional strength of them.

Cool! I'd heard they were looking at running with the F3/GTs at one track, but didn't know they were thinking of making it three tracks - fingers crossed, then! That'll make for a great weekend's racing if it happens  Fingers crossed for that one... I'd love to see ASCAR, especially since I got involved in the online NASCAR racing - might give more justification to get Knockhill built for the game now, and added to the championship! Though it'll wipe out a mad idea I had earlier on... I was thinking that Rockingham has it's own Legends series, which usually supports ASCAR, so it'd be pretty cool to join the ASCAR meeting onto the Legends Festival, and make it a monster Legends/American Festival, with three series having double-headers over the weekend! Plus at the end of it all they could mix all the fields together for two or three qualifying races, and then a grand final (maybe extended to ten laps for once) of the very quickest guys from the various series - would be a cool way to see who the best Legends drivers in the country are And if that's maybe a touch mad, with 22 Legends races, and just one or two ASCAR (not sure if the long races would happen on road courses, so maybe they could have two short ones), the XR2s could always have a double-header too - with their qualifying races, that'd make for 28 of the most entertaining and exciting races imaginable, all in one weekend! Pity it'll likely only ever be a dream, cos that'd be the best race meeting ever, if it happened! Anyway, back to reality...... :cheese:

Having been all excited about ASCAR's original foray north I can't help but feel nagging doubt about this but it would be a big boost to get that next season if the BTCC wanders off... fingers crossed.

Saw the ASCAR calendar on teletext last night... no Knockhill as yet, but there's still two TBA dates for the weekends of (roughly) June 22nd, and September 13th... Brands has got a meeting already, so with any luck the rumours about Croft and Knockhill will be true - please!!!
