guys this is aimed at no driver in particular but on sunday I had a few pull offs at clarks and not one driver isolated the electrics before climbing out. can i ask you that if you leave the track and are unable to continue please isolate the car's electrics, it saves one of us from going into the gravel to do it and keeps everyone safer
hopefully none of you lot on here will need to do the above

Hi Alan,
Sorry to question the above advise but why is it necessary?
For example say someone hears a strange noise from the rear of the car, wheel bearing etc... it wouldnt realy cross their minds to isolate the electrics. Nor set the fire extingusher off?

well as we do not know the cause of failure unless it is obvious like contact or fire or wheels at a strange angle. it is part of our training and is quoted in the motorsport safety fund' booklet on marshalling and I quote from page 15 section 8; isolate the car's electrics, get the driver to isolate the car if possible. he/she should know where the isolator is and how to operate it.
if the electrics are isolated then any chance of a short circuit is eliminated and a large chance of fire starting as a result of this also

Ok thanks. I just had to sort this in the clio as I discovered when the button was pushed from the outside, the engine still ran.
