Great day's racing despite the utterly appaling weather - I may take a while to thaw out. XR2s were unitentionally hilarious viewing from the bottom of Duffus with offs and bumps all over the place though the Minis also provided some viewing fun - uploading the pic of Manio Loia's attempt to demolish the wall Ian Donaldson had a go at a couple of months back. Classics and S+S were great with their big grids, chuffed to see Peter Taddei win both of his races after all the work they've put into the Fievo.
All races worth seeing today!

i wouldnt mind seeing video footage of that as we were too busy watching the aftermath of the mini incident at railway, not going to comment on driving standards
had a busy day at post 6 (clarks) with a few pull offs and a porker demolishing the tyres, thankfully all drivers okay. big cheers to Gillian for being a great IO as usual and the 2 trainees stevie snr and jnr who put in a great shift and grafted hard

Good days racing today and good resulta for yours truly also helps Wasnt too optimistic afetr qualy on Saturday was a shocker, or in Mike's words "I was useless" which was a pretty fair assumption lol First race had an awful start, why cant I just go before the lights go out? Would make it more fun lol. Managed to get some places back thansk to the craziness up ahead probably due to the track being mega slippy in places. Found that out myself later on wi a spin out of the john r weir chicane so blew my season of no spins lol but surley the tv must of noticed it Then on the next lap decided to go grass tracking on the exit Finished up 10th from 15th on the grid so nice result. 2nd race started strong and was catching barry a little bit but then the engine woes returned and managed to get passed by Dave C on the last lap even with a gap of the straight from the chicane to carlube with 2 laps to go. 10th place again so nice consistent finishes. Gotta say race 2 was crazy lol, was actually laughing a few times in the car at how crazy it was. Roll on 2 weeks now

I've just seen more pics of that on Power Images. 10/10 to Russell Morgan for his efforts too in XR2 Race 1. ;D

Some good pics on Power Images, pretty dramatic day all round it seems, XR2s and Minis going off all over the place, Saloons and Sportscars blowing up everywhere (was interesting watching the Escort smoking away to itself throughout most of race 2!), I'll be interested to see the incidents on Motors tv (or Youtube!) since I missed nearly all of them, the freezing wind was too much for me and I just hid in the car on the front straight most the time; I'm a wimp, I know! Really enjoyed the GT Cup, great seeing a nice big field of GTs after the rather disappointing quantity the British GTs brought up, only shame is it was nearly all Porsches - I like them well enough but a few more other cars would've been nice as well The Lamborghini was pretty special though and always great to see Colin Simpson's Marcos out there, the sound that thing makes is awesome Btw, radio stations sponsoring race weekends is a great idea, no objections at all... BUT, if they then make the much-played jingles so annoying that it makes me want to never listen to that station (having previously had a neutral opinion towards it), surely it backfired a little? Edit, forgot to say great job by the celebrity Mini driver this time out, think he was the only one to not fall off the track a few times or something? Also very fast for someone who's never raced before, respect (Just so everyone knows I'm not entirely knocking the abovementioned radio station, I know this driver was from them! Sadly I never caught his surname or I'd give him proper credit )

Hello.
A bit of a mixed bag of a weekend for me. Qualifying was rotten, there's just so many cars on the grid now that it's hard to find any space to put in a decent lap, but ended up ninth so not as bad as it could have been.
Race one was great fun in those really greasy conditions. For a change, really enjoyed the wet and the car was handling better than ever in those conditions. Had a few moments, notably when Peter Cruikshank spun and nearly wiped me out on the entry to McIntyres...I was so consumed with avoiding him by a fag paper's width that I nearly forgot to brake for the corner! Then a couple of laps later Stewart Scott spun on the exit of the Chicane and also nearly wiped me out. The passing ST battle pushed me wide at Clark and let Peter and Jay past, dropping me back to 7th, but still, in one peice.
Race two was rotten. Poor start being on the wet side of the grid, lost me some places. Taking a full wet setup onto what turned out to be a bone dry track meant the car was a pig to drive and it's got slower in a straight line too, so really I did OK to make 8th.
Managed to catch the last Mini race...what was going on there! Real shame for Manio, podium finish in race 2 to one of the biggest Mini accidents this year.

Blair - thanks for the vote of confidence!
I went out on dry settings for race 1, and then I can see from the video (on YouTube if you're interested) that I was changing into 3rd before Duffus - I don't know why - and then turning in too late, with the car still unsettled from over-braking.
Should be better next time.
Race 2 was a lot more fun, but I still want to find another couple of seconds somewhere around the track.

, the freezing wind was too much for me and I just hid in the car on the front straight most the time; I'm a wimp, I know! at least you are not afraid to admit it didnt think it was that bad and we were pretty exposed at clarks, was a wee bit cold in the morning but felt it warmed up in the afternoon, perhaps it was all the running that kept us warm nice to see the new toilet block at clark, certainly makes working that part of the track a bit more comfortable expecially for the ladies. good to see knockhill investing in spectator/marshal facilities. any chance of 16 amp electric hookups in the back paddock for us guys that bring caravans for the 2 day meetings ;D

Well it was less bad later on, yeah but I feel the cold a bit more than most people I think, always feeling cold when others say it's ok, so times when it actually is cold are too cold At the end of the start-finish straight was just every time I got out the car being blasted by this icy wind that went right through me, brrr - clearly I need a jacket that's both windproof and padded Toilet block at Clark you say? Never thought I'd see that, great to hear - was always annoying having to walk halfway round the track to the nearest one!
