Great drives by Jay. Well done buddy!! Wish I could say the same about myself, but I had a disastrous weekend, only mitigated by the fact the Peter had a worse one Car ran like sh*t in qualifying - wouldn't rev out at the end of the esses and dying coming out of the hairpin for several seconds on every dry lap. Willie D found some grit in the carb and that allowed the car to rev out through the esses, but still no joy with the hairpin issue. Made a great start in race 1 from 11th on grid to 6th/7th? then threw it away coming into the complex. Took ages to fire up again, by which time I was dead last. 2nd race on Sunday was a little better, but kept losing places on the main straight as cars other than mine pulled cleanly out of the hairpin. Finished 4th, but then told I have a 10 second penalty for jumping the start. Clerk of Course said it was marginal, but I did creep forward a couple of feet before the lights went out. Definitely a weekend to forget!!

Lots of DNFs and DNSs. Anyone want to fill in the details?

Good weekend off track, crap on it, however I thankfully when I was on the track, I stayed on the track. Good results for Jay and Hamish Smart too.
Put two laps in in qualifying to warm up, then on start of lap 3 the distributor disconnected itself and the car coasted to a halt at the chicane. Plugged it back in and when it finally restarted I managed 3 laps stuck in traffic so only 7th. First race was about to be bone dry till we were in the holding paddock, when the heavens opened. Made a reasonable start, but had to slow before I became sandwiched between Tim Sleigh and Findlay Adams. Got shoved into a half spin at the first corner, lost a few places and then made them all back up again as everyone else fell off. Finished 7th, pretty lonely but great fun none the less. Race 2 started well and lasted for about 3/4 of a lap before the misfire that ruined my Knockhill meeting returned. Pootled round for a couple more laps but called it a day as the engine made some strange noises and I didn't want to risk it. At least I know that it wasn't caused by all the bits I've replaced, now I can start replacing lots of other bits.
Tim and I hung on for the allcomers race at the end of the day, but since he too was suffering from engine gremlins it had become a test session for us both so nothing spectacular. Of course as there were XR2's in the holding paddock...it started raining. Not too much, just enough to be moist.

Had a great weekend at the battle cruiser as I had no driving responsibilities for a change.... but I did miss it !
Very happy for all the drivers on the podium but very dissapointed for Tim with the car in race 2... His dry pace was thereabouts and improving until the car decided to chuck a sicky.
Dave C.. I had the same cutting out problem at the hairpin last year but found the fault. If I knew you were in trouble I could have helped. Come and speak to me at Knockhill.

Bit of a grassy moment for you there Findlay. Peter didn't half make a mess of his front end.
