im getting myself ready for changing from karting to formula ford 1600. Im plannning to enter the championship in 2010.
But iv a few little problems.
Iv seen alot of formula ford's for sale with loads of different chassi's and engine's is their a specific Chassis engine?
Also how many practice session's are their in a year? Id far prefer to use the first year testing getting to know the track (knockhill) Never been on the track or any Full scale track so its alot to adjust to,
All iv done is the single seater experience day but only to see the track,
Is it possible to take a formula ford onto a speed sunday (trackday) this would be excellent for tracktime and getting to know the track.
One more thing is their specific spare supplier's for formula ford?
Thanks Alot Mathew McBride.

A certain Mr Brunton will no doubt help you shortly, he's the resident FFord expert.

I have raced formula ford for a few years now and there is a few different chassis builders out there but what i look at is who can supply the parts for them and what sort of availability there is also of parts. The main one is a Van Diemen which i used as there is quiet often a van diemen support van at the circuit with most if not all the parts needed if you encounter damage. I used an RF92 last 2 years and its a 1992 car and all parts for it are still available. Graham Brunton also stocks a large amount of bits for van diemens.
The engine side there is also a lot of engine builders but not really one main one there is not much between builders to be honest.
You cannot take the car out on a speed Sunday but single seaters do get time on track on there own on Glenrothes motor club track nights.
I Am selling my car and engine ready to go at the moment and graham brunton also has cars for sale or possibly hire, he can be contacted on 0778169512. and i can be contacted on07764771069
Cheers

Thanks alot for the helpfull info mate!
Iv been looking about and yea van diemen seem's to look the desirable one for me,
I think id be terrified of renting a formula ford considering iv never driver one before etc,
Is their alot of newcomer's to formula ford? Is their any website's with lap time's etc for formula ford's around knockhill?
or do you know a fairly reasonable lap time? Just so i know what im up against!
