Instead of waiting till April to find out I thought id start this thead...
Scottish Club Racing and the Credit Crunch how will it affect you?
Ie. Job losses, sponsors, difficulty to get credit, pay rises, petrol prices etc... etc...
Will you be able to race? Will you have to cut down on the things you wanted to do to the car? Will you be able to do away rounds etc...?

Interesting topic Dave. For me I'm still earning the same as last year (literally, no wage rise! ) however as I took a decision last season that I'd do the whole season it means I'll probably cut back this year. First thing I'll miss is the away round as that is the most expensive round, then probably not do as much testing either. It'll probably put me at a disadvantage but I'd rather get out racing than testing. For the XR2's there seems to be a few guys buying XR2's and a few more moving into ST's. So the scene on a whole at this stage doesn't look bad, but then the first round is still 3 months away yet, so anything can happen.

I'm hoping to run a couple of legends rounds this year, the "crunch" doesn't effect me particularly as I don't rely on sponsors and pay for any racing I do with my own spare cash, in fact, the lower price of fuel, food etc actually helps me in that respect. If I was to lose my job, then there would obviously be issues as it doesn't take a genius to see that no jobs are being created while thousands are vanishing.

The issue may well turn out to be not whether people will be able to race but whether the circuit owners will be able to withstand a downturn in attendees at track days and other non racing events!

Interesting point Dick. Another interesting thing is how there havent been increases this year due to "the insurance cost going up". Funny that...
