Hi all, First off, good work on SCR website. Have only just found it, great source of info! I've just started racing in XR's this season, and I'd like to say "hello" and "does anyone have any advice"?? I'm number 25, and presently running around near the back in the high 67's. I've got my own website up too, www.bhracing.com and I'll drop all your links on it next update. Oh, and if you're still looking for SCR decals on cars, I'm happy to help. Cheers Baz

Hi Barry - good to have you along... new drivers are always welcome here. I'm sure Nick and Co will be able to help out with advice hopefully - they usually like showing how much they know Hopefully we'll be able to work out some decals for you - drivers running with them are always welcome... Neil Scott has been getting a new batch printed so we'll see what he has available.

Hi Barry - welcome aboard! I'll be at Knockhill from Friday before the next meeting so come over for a chat then - I'll be somewhere amongst the ICR XR's/Caterham's/Mini's etc. I've been helping some of our new drivers out although it's probably not a good idea to follow my advice 100% as you'll end up with a DNF! I'm sure GR/KF won't mind me saying this but for specific XR2 advice, info etc, visit my site at www.ns-r.co.uk - I'll take a look at your site later on. Give me a shout if there's anything that you specifically need help with - if I can't answer your questions, I'm sure someone else will. Cheers, Nick www.ns-r.co.uk

Welcome aboard Barry - great to see you here  I'll add your site to the links page next time I do an update - hopefully in the next day or so, if KF gets around to writing up the race report for the weekend

Welcome to the forum Barry!! Another driver entering hell... I see from your site one of the sponsors has an Irvine number - are you from around Irvine at all? I'm just from down the road outside Ayr, if so I gotta support the local lad! PS - high 67's are not bad at all!

Hey, thanks for the response! Nick, I'll come over and find you next meeting. Should be up on Saturday morning, depending on the timetable. My website isn't great at the moment, still a lot of development to do there, but it's only really filling in the blanks now that the structure is there. Oh, and ignore the pictures at the top, they still have the car with 48 on it as I haven't had a chance to get new photos up yet. I had asked one of the photographers to take some on Sunday, but since I managed about 3 laps before the exhaust broke I'm not holding out for any. TL - my sponsorship so far is a family friend who owns a garage in Irvine. I'm actually from Paisley, and so's he, he just works in Irvine. But I'm still local-ish! Thanks Baz

Ah, so that's the car that David Robertson used - did that one not used to be Thom Bell's / John Marshall's old car??? BTW, be careful if you ask Dave for advice - you'll end up with a 200 BHP+ Turbo engine under the bonnet - you should see his track car! Nick www.ns-r.co.uk

I originally joined up as madbaz, but I put in the wrong e-mail address so had to re-register as XR2 Baz...so only one Baz has joined. Yeah, the car is ex Dave Robertson. Prior to that it was Gerry Little's and before that Colin Murchie's! What do I need help with? Er...where do I start. I need to go faster, though without a 200BHP turbo engine (I've seen the pics, nice!, but I don't think it'd get by the scrutineers ) . The engine seems pretty strong, so it's more down to setup and driver. Baz

Baz - it might seem like a daft question, but has anyone ever took time out and talked you around the circuit, i.e., best lines, braking points, do's and dont's for the XR2's etc? It might sound like a daft question, but thinking back when I started out, no one showed me and I didn't have a clue. Some may say that I still don't but there you go!!! Come and see me on the Saturday prior to testing and I'll try to help - there's plenty of drivers around for advice anyway - all you need to do it ask. Cheers, Nick www.ns-r.co.ukPS there is a brief XR2 lap on my site in the "venues" section.

Carry lots of speed into the corner, brake late, trail brake then floor it and steer into it! ;D

Ha, not a daft questin at all!! Recently no, no-one has showed me round the track, though I've been out in the school cars a lot in years gone by. I was actually in the Search for a Star '97, and have been out with Cowie, Forrest, Franchitti and Brunton.
That said, the track has changed since then, and I'm still applying the old lines and am gradually beginning to realise where I'm losing time. I've read the track guides, and it looks like I can gain a heap of time through McIntyres (turn in earlier), Chicane and Clark, which makes up a fair amount of the lap!
On top of that, is building confidence. I'm on a shoe-string budget and sometimes a bit over cautious in protecting the car. I learned the hard way a few years ago in a hillclimb when I rolled my Midas through trying too hard.

Charlie, Not sure why No. 48 rings a bell with you. I've not been around for the past couple of years having been in Oz, I just bought the car after I got back at the end of last season. I've never hired a race car either, so it wasn't me. Baz www.bhracing.com
