I also spoke to Chris E about a race at another circuit. Essentially, the response was that the Croft's / Oulton Park's had been approached for this year but did not want an old series like the XR2's. That is a facto f life unfortunately. It's not that the SMRC didn't try but if the other circuits don't want us then there is little they can do. Assuming we want an away round, I think that leaves us two options. (a) try and go to somewhere like Anglessay or (b) try and hire a circuit for a weekend. I think this might be prohbitive from a cost point of view.
However, lets hear what you guys think (how strngly do you want an away round) or any other ideas you may have.

I think the majority of XR2 drivers and probably most series would be up for an away round in 2004 but we need to get feedback from the drivers.
I am surprised that we cannot get a place at croft as a "swap deal" with the DDMC ?
Another idea is what about approaching other circuits such as Donington Park? I expect that the costs may be higher but has this been tried in the past?
If we start looking at circuits further away then the costs start going higher with transportation etc...
Can we see what the options are and then give each driver a form to tick or cross at a race meeting - that will also save on postage costs mailing out a mailshot - do it through race control / scrutineering - i.e., you cannot pass scrutineering unless you hand in a completed form?

I am in the process of pulling together a questionaire type document which I hope to have handed out to XR2 entrants at the next race meeting.
Completion will be entiely voluntary however,
