A helicopter registered to him has crashed on his estate near Lanark, 2 people have been killed.
I have relatives up that way and apparently Colin is one of the victims.
I can't believe it personally. So many talents go this way, remember Steve Hislop.
RIP Colin.

Nothing confirmed as of yet by the authorities so let's be careful what we say. Sad to hear that people have died in the accident though.

www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/more_sport/article2461339.eceA terrible accident, coming around the time of the publication of the official report into the death of bike racer, Steve Hislop - also in a helicopter. Unlike most of his F1 counterparts, Colin loved driving more than money. Furthermore, he invested heavily in time and money to put something back into the sport that gave him so much. Yes, he was priviliged; but he grasped all opportunities in life with open-minded enthusaism and determination. A devoted husband and father; a prinicipled role model has been snatched from the world. Honest, dedicated, passionate, proud and Scottish. Thanks for the memories, big man.

Colin McRae was one of my heroes back when I watched WRC a lot in the late 90s, really sad to hear this news; he was a great driver and a lot of fans will miss him.

A Scottish legend for us all to be proud of. I was lucky enough to take him on test drive in new Range Rover which was an experience I will never forget. Full tilt along the'Lang Wang' in a rolly Rangie and he wasan't even trying. I was trying to look cool but I was crapping myself!! Always brings a smile to my face. My thoughts are with all the families involved.
