Yea, good that Ali is OK but I don't think the car was.... We kept enquiring spectators...... (yes there were one or two... pleasant ones this time)... informed as to what was going on as far as we could. Big incident was the unusual rear to rear shunt of the Escort Cosworths. Caused by one of them stopping on track with a problem then another spinning backwards into it, on fluid dropped from the first one, we suspect. Extensive damage to wallets, fortunately not to drivers (or marshals who had just got back on the tyres), and 2 rear windows on the track.

I didnt see the first Legends crash but looked up from sending a text just in time to see a barrel rolling car and a wheel heading straight for us in attempt #2. Quite an eventful race!
The Cossie crash must have been gutting for both drivers, those were some seriously damaged shells after that!
Was quite surprised by the lack of carnage in the Minis and Fiestas given the conditions, some close racing in the 3rd race in the Minis.

think the minis were trying to behave as they are at croft next weekend, the final meeting will probably see more carnage than a demolition derby at cowdenbeath
as for the escort incident, mate said the guy that stopped was crawling all the way from duffus, why he didnt pull into rallyx or post 4 was crazy.

as for the escort incident, mate said the guy that stopped was crawling all the way from duffus, why he didnt pull into rallyx or post 4 was crazy. The lap he stopped, he came past Duffus sounding as if he was stuck in a high gear as he didn't seem to make any attempt to change it and the revs were low. Then at the chicane there was a burst of throttle like he had no gears at all and he just stopped. I assume it was his first event as I've not seen that car before and he wasn't sure what to do... maybe the SMRC could give rookies a bit more of a talking to about getting off track completely when you break down.

The car sounded sick even on the outlap tbh. Certainly no black cross on yellow on the back to identify the driver as a rookie.
Cant remember for certain, but pretty sure the ARDS DVD mentions where to pull off and the first time out briefing I got at the start of the year mentioned if you had to stop, get as far off the racing line and as close to the tyre wall as possible so you can get to safety.

Pah, more feckin engine problems. After solving some issues last time out and fixing more for this time, promising in testing, it would seem something else has failed. Must take solace, still finished both races in the points even if it was a lot slower than I'd like to have done and not last. I suppose it was handy it was wet as I couldn't have went any faster if it were dry Baz

I suppose I should be thankful for getting through a weekend without any damage, but on the whole I actually hated Sunday and been on a downer since. Not even looked at my videos and I doubt they'll be going on Youtube. Although the most exciting moment was in Race 2 when Russel Milloy spun in front of me on the exit of the chicane and I saw him looking straight at me through his side window!
At the very first race of the year I did manage a 66 second time in the wet, but it took me to Race 2 on sunday to even get into the 68 seconds. My expectations were higher than what I achieved so I guess that is why I came away dissapointed, the car felt absolutely awful and it's probably just down to old tyres.
But beggars can't be choosers as they say so it's made me question my approach to racing for next year, doing things half arsed just aint the way to go.

Same here Blair, spectating again on Sunday was killing me but theres no point going out in an uncompetitive car, it'll totally take the fun out of it.
Although having just given the credit card a bitch slap with an order of engine internals I'm not sure the fun is in that either!

Much better weekend results wise on sunday, if only it could rain more lol. Came to the meeting with the aim of getting the car back in one peice and was succesful for once. Qual was quite an experience once the ST's had got round me and got 6th but still aint sorted getting a clear track, maybe gotta be quicker to the assembly area or be a bit less stupid lol. 1st race had 3 awful praccy starts but main one went okay, thought i had dave into duffis but he pwned me round the outside. Had greg for early company who drove a superb pair of races (maybe his abuse on saturday spurred him on) but after the safety car i managed to clear him. Was catching dave at the end on what i thought was pace but turned out his wipers broke and so got 6th. Race 2 drove the worlds worst opening lap and had greg and russell m passing me where i then tried an impossible late break move and had a big lockup. One more at the hairpin suggested the tires were minced. Kept up wi peter but when the safety car came out we got shafted by mark in his first meeting wi a safety car so perfectly understandable he wasnt sure on the procedure. Saw russell and blair almost colliding and also greg spinning at duffis which gifted me 5th. Roll on october now
