I'd be interested to know whether this forum is used exclusively by "the minions" of whether any of the SMRC big hitters read it. <insert loads of smilies here>
There is a serious point to this thread but I'll wait till (hopefully)someone from the SMRC responds first...

I'd like to be one of the SMRC big-hitters , but that type of thing is frowned upon, apparently DC

It probably gets a glance now and then. There are far more people who read the forum than post on it.

Mike S, Remember that this forum has no official connection with SMRC.
If you want to post something for 'the hi heid yins' then you'd be better using the SMRC official forum.
This forum does get read and has caused a few upsets in the past which is why Mike H has had to add the major disclaimer at the head of the forum.
Cheers Charlie

They tend to be reading it whenever someone says something to upset them, but they never post as themselves as such - there's the odd identity on the forum who we know to be among the high-up SMRC people, but they choose to remain anonymous here and so we don't give them away! They rarely post even then, haven't noticed any of them for a year or so, however I can pretty much guarantee at least one will be reading if someone says something too controversial, it's always the way Like Charlie says, the best way to get official response would be the SMRC's own forum, however it's a shame that's only open to SMRC members, it'd be nice to have a place where interested parties who aren't actually members could see discussions - there's probably a few people like me who've been following the racing for years and have a fair knowledge of it but aren't involved enough to actually belong to the SMRC. And yes I realise social memberships exist but given I can read Mike's copies of Wheelspin, £25 for forum access only isn't worth it when money's kinda tight for me anyway

i would agree with that, there is a lot of us involved at knockhill particularly the orange army that arent SMRC members. I did think about joining the club but £25 is the cost of a round trip to KH in petrol and would I rather access a forum and get a newsletter or go and spend a day in the pouring rain in my orange romper suit... hmmm

I think the SMRC forum is more like a message board if that makes sense. Generally if you want to talk to the SMRC, you're better off picking up the phone. I've found the people I've needed to contact excellent in that respect, phone them, have a natter, job done. If you want to discuss something, or need an answer during the day when most of the voluntary big wigs are doing the work that pays the bills , here is the better bet. I'm sure the SMRC forum used to be open to non-members but I think it caused quite a bit of bickering and what not. It would be good though to have it available and more frequented. It was really only here and trackscotland's forum that were available when I was trying to find out about starting racing and the cars etc etc.
