woohooo it is karting time again will anyone from this forum be joining us ? just want to say a huge thank you for Lynne organisiing this for us. It is great to be social with other marshals when not donning the Guantamano bay outfit as my mates are calling it. it is not specifically for the marshals so dont be scared to come and join us we are lovely people who stand out in ALL i repeat ALL weathers. I can only assume it was the spray from the track that some people did not see us you to to wave and such like at the last meeting. i am not going to have a rant, If i do i will set up my own page if you want to join us for karting please contact lynne foxyx

I think most drivers don't want to be shown up at what we are meant to be able to do OK ish at. ha I try to wave at all marshals (my windows were a bit steamy last meeting! ), just feel a bit of a tit sometimes though waving back finishing where I do - I know ALL drivers do appreciate your work especially the last meeting.

we are lovely people who stand out in ALL i repeat ALL weathers. I can only assume it was the spray from the track that some people did not see us you to to wave and such like at the last meeting. Off topic I know but it really gets my goat to see that. Racers couldn't race without the marshalls volunteering their time and selves to the cause and yet most of the SMRC crowd sit staring straight ahead and ignore the marshalls and any spectators who are applauding their efforts. I've been in the cockpit and I know we can see them all so stop being so fecking miserable and acknowledge the people who have made the effort to make the races happen or just come to watch your efforts. We'll never get away from the us & them feeling there is in the motorsport world if the drivers just act like spoiled playboys. In the legends world Ben Mason, Aly Hunter and Co make an issue of reminding drivers to give the marshalls a wave afterwards and for the most part we do but I've been able to spectate for most of the year this season and it's been a bit sad to see how many drivers across the board ignore the marshalls when they're standing in the gravel traps clapping. Rant over.

Maybe you weren't going fast enough Mike? ;D ;D ;D (only joking) ...and I'm not guilty your honor - I always wave to the marshalls/spectators - even when I'm having a bad day in 'the office' N. www.nicksandersonracing.com

I would agree with Mike and say that the legend boys usually give us a wave/thumbs up on the slowing down lap as do a lot of the F-ford guys and speaking as a relative newbie to the wonderful world of orange that means a lot. That wee bit of mutual respect. We thank you for a job well done and you guys do likewise. I can appreciate that some of the tintops dont have opening drivers windows (minis do dont they??) but surely the drivers could open the door and stick a hand out.
mods hows about splitting this thread and giving it a thread of its own??

I race legends (No 28) and agree Marshalls dont get the recognition and thanks they deserve. Mike is right about Ally and his crew about encouraging all drivers to wave - he considers it a tradition of legends racing. So I would like to personally thank each and every Marshall at knockhill including the guys off track in the dummy grid on race day and practice days for their dedication, enthusiasm and commitment to Scottish Motorsport at Knockhill and look forward to next season with you all. Cheers guys.
