And do something really really silly to my Fiesta??
It is getting replaced with a Rover 414 soon (as soon as we find one) and I really don't want to let it go to the scrappy as a) i have very fond memories in my time driving of this car and b) it's really not fit for the road getting...
Maybe I should modify it in some way? like a V8 in the back of a stripped out interior driving the rear wheels? Now that would be fun!
Ok, just tell me to get back to my pills if you want! ;D

Take it to the racewall in Cowdenbeath and give it a fitting sendoff ;D Wish I'd done that with my old Nova

...or use it at Knockhill on a Hot Hatch day.
Either that or let Dave get his hands on it....

Yeh but the cars need to have MOT's and all the necessary stuff to go on the track on Hot Hatch days? I think mine is gonna fail its MOT big time next time.

No they don't. All cars are checked out by the scrutineers before letting them on track but you do not need an MOT. I used to take an old XR2 out on track until it finally gave up the ghost. Bearing in mind it had absolutely nothing done to it and it wasn't in exactly a great condition, it wasn't too happy about being thrown around Knockhill all the time... - disposable car anyway...

So all I'd need would be a trailer to get it there. If I put a new engine in it (like from a crash damaged road XR2, or a V6 from a Mondeo, doubt it'd fit tho), then we could be laughing. Don't I need insurance though for the track?

To be honest if you were going to use it on the track you want to concentrate on getting it round the track as fast as possible before you do anything to make it quicker! This means stripping it out, replacing the suspension with an uprated type, bushes, tyres etc... Then safety, fire extingusher, cage, helmet etc... Then look at getting more performance from the engine! This is where most people go wrong, like that guy on the Knockhill site with his Sabb Turbo, big engine, turbo strapped onto it so its mildly fast but it wont go round Knockhill very well! Engine wise if you wanna put a V6 Mondeo engine in it or a Rover V8 then you better have about 5k ready and a couple of years lol! Depends what mark fiesta you have and what engine it has but your best with a 1.6 engine, either with carb, twin 40's or turbo! Just take it up as is for just now, you'll probably get bitten by the bug and then look at the car! You can borrow my trailer if you want??? www.davidrbolton.co.uk/trackcar.htmDave.

Had a look at your site Dave, thats what gave me the idea. Extremely tidy car you've got there! clutch slips massively on my Fiesta as it is right now, i don't think that'd make for a good car as my foot would be to the floor all the time, and it would just rev it's little heart out without accelerating. need a new engine. i really am game for this...i quite fancy having a crack at doing something to my car, it isn't worth anything much so if i do something silly then it won't matter lol!

Doing your old car up like you suggest can be fun but I sometimes think that people spend more cash doing that than it would take them to race. As I have said before, my xr2 is for sale for around £2,500. A race entry is £100. Come and race don't waste your money on a track car !

My advice? Strip the whole thing except shell, engine, transmission and the like, put a rollcage in and take it to the local banger racing track. Like KF says, if you want to kill it, kill it in style :evilgrin:

Come and race.
For the money you will spend on making a good track car - remember how much Dave spent on his engine alone, you could have a competitive xr2 and be part of the most exciting race series in Scotland !!!
