Right tiddly-peeps, got a bit of a dilema on me hands and need a few opinions on this.
Basically my next car (following the Nova 1989-2002, Rust In Peace) is a three way battle, the contenders are.......
1) K Reg Fiesta 1.1, 6 months tax and test -£450 2) K Reg 205 1.1i, 8 months tax and test -£600 3) J Reg Sunny 1.4i, 5 months tax, 11 months test -£700
All are about average miles, come within the £700 budget and look decent enough. I was set on getting the Sunny (reliable, FSH, nice MOT), but being a Nissan, the insurance could be a problem - by contrast, the other two are much softer on maintenance costs.
Thoughts?

Nova Saloon, I dont know! Pug will be slow but will handle well and is a good little reliable car! Nissan will be fastest but its a sunny and its not a gti-r! ;D Fiesta isnt fast and wont handle well! Go for the pug! Dave.

Yeah, I agree with Dave. Although I am totally against Peugeot due to my "Never buy French" attitude (bad experience with a Renault), it's the best deal out of the three.

Yes well being me i would have to disagree with the other two on this one the sunny is the better buy i think.
the pug'y is ok but older ones have Head problems thats not easy to sort out. (wet liners are the cause). make sure there is no air coming through the header tank if so walk away.(been there done that, don't work)
the fiesta well it's a ford, what esle can you say. unreliable, slow, never start's on frosty morning's,handles like well "ask nick"??. and only good for racing. oh and no radio as sandard.
now the nissan well nice raliable car thats not to dear to sort if anything goes wrong ( never breaks down if you service them right or not), starts first time every time and is sure to get you there and back "not like the other two". the insurance should be low as it's not a favourite car with the boyracers.
hope this helps speedyv

I'd say go with the Fiesta, but that's cos I've always liked Fiestas The 205 is "pug-ugly", IMHO , and I don't know much about Sunnys except they're hardly well-known for being quality cars... definitely the Fiesta it it was me choosing

The fiesta will be a mk3, nothing like the mk2 fiesta which Nick drives and actually handles quite well!
Dave.

Dave - MKII's usually handle well but it really depends on the driving. You've seen what happens when Charlie gets behind the wheel!

Try slapping some Kumho's on one and race around Knockhill in the wet - now that's interesting!

The 205 is "pug-ugly", IMHO , And you go on to me about bad puns?! Jeez The Fiesta is only on the shortlist becuase it's far and away the cheapest, definetly not because it's the most desireable Sounds similar to the tale of a Renault owner i knew who had an 11 many years back that required 4 cylinder head gaskets in about 6 months  . Pugs tend to be more durable, but admittedly do wear out quite nastily towards the end of their lives. Cheers for the thoughts, but I think i'm going for the Sunny, provided i can haggle the price down a bit

And speedy's team has won this week, with a car as cheap as chips!
sorry, i'll get me coat!
talking of engine failures, been advised not to touch a Rover 414 as head gaskets go on them easily!!!
Have seen a 96 P reg Volvo 460 1.6 for sale, for £1295 at a dealers. It's got very cheap insurance, only a tad dearer than my current 1.4 Fiesta. I reckon that'd be a good buy, as I am wanting a big enough car, without it being unreliable(like a Rover!). We did have a Volvo about 8 years ago and it was sold on when it had 140,000 miles on the clock, that's not bad at all!
