As you may well realise, this board is basically as provided by the provider, rather than one I have full control over, and sadly it doesn't yet have the facility to completely replace the standard dull yellow smilies, which I don't really like much. However, it does have the facility to add extra ones, and I've found out I can replace the originals through the codes used, even if they still appear in the post message box. So far, I can only have them displayed at the top of every page, regardless of whether or not it is a page where you can make a post, so it'll likely look a bit silly, but otherwise it wouldn't be at all easy to show what smilies are available. Here's the important part: Ignore the "Add smileys" section of the create post page - I have already replaced some of the smileys using the same code, for example the smiley has replaced one of the originals, and I plan to replace more, so if you use the smileys that come with the board, you may well find you don't get the one you expect! Instead, click on whichever smiley you want out of the row at the top of the page, and it will automatically add the correct code. I've had a look at the Proboards forum, and it seems they're likely to add the ability to replace smilies properly at some point, but for the moment we'll just have to make do with the current arrangement.

And another point - don't try putting smilies in your personal text tag that goes under your avatar... I just did and it gave me a nice large image tag instead

quick question GR - is there a list of about where it shows what to type for the other smilies? I presume these are 'plauder-smilies' - but where do i find them URL-wise? Not trying to go overboard (you can get too much of a good thing - just ask the barman at my local :uhoh: ), but if pictures can speak 1000 words, it'll stop me writing essays as replies

lol, they're actually smilies I gathered from all round the web and stuck up in my own webspace to have them all in one place For what to type, I haven't got a list anywhere yet, though I'll likely make one and put it up relatively soon... for the moment, you can just click on the smilies across the top of the page and that'll add in the relevant code - it's mostly pretty obvious anyway, I hope I'll do a quick list here with gaps in, so they don't just turn back into smilies - I hope! = : ) = ; ) = : D ;D = ; D  = : laugh : :rotfl: = : rotfl : = : P = : ( = : cry :  = : mad : :angryfire: = : angryfire :  = : confused : :uhoh: = : uhoh :  = : rolleyes : :dozey: = : dozey : :blackeye: = : blackeye :  = : blush :  = : crazy :  = : idea :  = : up :  = : thumbsdown :  = : evilgrin : :champion: = : champion :  = : wave : :snore: = : snore : :book: = : book : :music: = : music :  = : santagrin : :banghead: = : banghead : :burnout: = : burnout :  = : beer :

Ah well, we know it does now, anyway Were you watching HIGNFY as well, then? Bit of a laugh - didn't see all of it, but there seemed to be rather a few digs at the former presenter invoved....;D

GR,
Can you pin a table with ALL the smilie codes available at the start of this thread please? (even my favourite which you won't put at the top of the page)
Also can you possibly design some motor racing and flag smilies.
Suggestion Chequered Flag - no more discusion Red Flag - Yellow Flag - Etc Tyre wall Skid Smash Wheel Nut behind the Wheel ( Who said me  )
Most important - An XR2

I'm actually thinking of doing a page with all the codes, and sticking a link to it next to the clickable ones at the top of each page... when I do that, I'll likely reduce the number of them on each page, cos it gets a bit distracting having a whole line of them dancing around Think there's likely only a dozen or so that people use a lot, anyway, so I'll just leave them at the top with a link to a page with the others - that sound ok? As for the new smilies, I can try, but creating images from scratch isn't one of my better skills! Like the idea, though - not entirely sure how much they'd get used, but I'll look into that
