Just so GR and KF don't get upset, I said I'd post any new news on this site when I have any gossip. , so here goes: - I've just been speaking to Alan Keith and Iain Cowie and have the following info. Alan has decided not to do the Mini's and will still be out annoying the rest of us in the XR2's. He will also be doing some Caterham races over the year although not a full championship assault (apparently). Iain will be entering the mini's and if that comes off, he has got to be one of the favorites to win the series. Iain has a lot of rallying and hillclimb experience so he will certainly be up there. Dave Colville has nearly comitted to the mini's although the last I heard he is still awaiting confirmation from his sponsors - seems familiar! There will be a lot of new guys out in the Xr2's and Iain reckons that the Caterhams will be in double figures (although he said that last year!). I will certainly be out for the first meeting but I am still awaiting confirmation from a sponsor. The old visa bill is way too high to commit to the full season as-is. I have completed a deal with Aberdeen charity "the ARCHIE foundation" for the childrens hospital and will be collecting hopefully from all of you (!). For full details of the cause and NS-R visit www.ns-r.co.uk. Sorry GR / KF - couldn't resist a plug - it is for a good cause! RR can probably add any latest news about the Legends as I don't get to find out about them.. Cheers and see you all at the hill. Nick.

good stuff Nick,
I also heard that Peter C was seriously considering the mini's
I thought about guesting in them at the double headers at Knockhill as I understand Iain might have some available for hire but not sure if you can do that
I also seem to recall that a certain "veteran" driver had embarked on a weight loss program, so he might be a bit quicker.... gone strangely quiet on that front recently though...

Would that be the same "even more veteran next Friday" XR2 driver that you are talking about. I did hear that he's been taking the fitness and not drinking campaign seriously this time.
You'd better watch out John or he'll be finishing in front of you soon!
I'd heard that Peter had decided against it but maybe not...

Lol @ pensioners getting reduced entry fees! Thanks for that news, Nick - good to know what's going on Out of interest, are entry lists for each series published before the season starts, or is it just a case of working it out from who shows up at the first race? Would be good to be able to get entry lists up on the site in the next month or so if they're likely to be available, anyway, though if they work anything like the calendar, we'll be still wondering who's entered halfway into the season!

No one has entered until we get the blue book from the SMRC. Once this is out, I'll wait a couple of weeks and then ask for an entry list for you - I'm only interested in the XR's but I'll get you a full copy.

as to RR having Gossip on the legends i only ever have facts . no really i have not got much that has not be said already, [anglesey? Ascar's? etc etc] but i have heard there is going to be 27 legends out at the beginning of the year? ( me thinks about 25 is more about the right number, not been wrong so far you know! anyway as for the drivers they seem to be coming from the stockcar world at the Racewall if i am correct. i know some drivers there (Friends) and they are saying the same . As for who they are and what they raced i don't Know that . but one or 2 F2's have been sold i believe! i will try finding out more on the new drivers if i can. the legends are not racing in october this year as there is going to be 7+? drivers heading for the world final in the usa this year and there cars will be getting shipped in time for the early november meeting. six weeks to ship your car to the us of a. But the news is that the legends are to have a class at the Doune hill climb this year ? this is to be held in september 21st/22nd and is only for fun.(aly has been busy) this should be fun for the drivers. i know i will be there for the fun of it ( never been there or done hill climbs before but will give it a go anyway). the only other thing is that will be racing this year but only at the scottish rounds of the championship, the reason being the same as Nick , funds are limited and when you add up the costs of going to anglesey and croft it is just not worth the trip). it's ok if your up front racing for the championship you go and try win but being one of the few that is still racing the 1200 engine this will be hard for me to do, so i have will just enjoy the racing and finnish off the bus this year. and see what next year brings..

RR - thanks for the info.
john - there isn't a problem with putting up the SMRC address - it's on plenty of websites anyway...
You may be right about 25 pounds - I'm not actually sure?

Also heard that a shell has been purchased for our mechanic Willie although there is some doubt over whether or not he will be able to take advantage of it.
We should really try and get Ross out as well
Nick, for race money have you thought about selling your body ? or maybe you could ignore your via bill and get a mastercard ?

Yeh Nick dress up as a girl and get to the Aberdeen pole dancers club! ;D
From a marshall view point, we have just had the usual sheet out asking us what events we can marshall at, also telling us when the training day is!
Dave.
