Got a glossy brochure from Rockingham trying to attract me into ASACAR for 2004. Never having been to Rockingham I assume its either through MSA or more likely Legends.. Who else got it? If its only Legends Drivers then I think I should forward my copy to SMRC. They pay [glow=red,2,300] £ 4000 starting money per race [/glow] and have 1 million US dollar prize money spread over 12 rounds.Sadly I remember SMRC pre Knockhill when they paid starting money and the prizes were money as well as a trophy! ps I would have included a photo of their brochure but how do you bright young things do it? and what is a URL anyway?? when I see a button marked insert picture I expect it to do it all for me. We may be going to Rockingham in november as there is a Caterham "Winter Series" race. It just depends on howmany of our Caterham drivers are interested in going. We were originally going to go to Brands for the FF festival as the Caterhams are at theat event however, it clashes with the final SMRC rounds at the hill. Nick www.ns-r.co.uk

ASCAR sounds just like a smaller version of NASCAR, with the starting money and prize money - my online NASCAR league is bringing a money system in for next year, and it sounds pretty similar... good way to get people into it, I guess. As for adding a picture, it's a bit complicated, as this isn't one of the forums where you can just tell it where the picture is on your computer and let it upload itself. On this forum, you have to put your picture onto some webspace, and then tell the forum the address (url) of your picture, so it can link to it... if you want, you can e-mail the picture to me and I'll put it up on my own webspace and post it in this thread for you?

Racemania, There was one waiting for me when I got home as well. Don't know about ASCAR - I'm struggling to fix my XR2! Nick www.ns-r.co.uk

Hehe, "Days Of Thunder Series" - that's a remarkably cheesey title... ASCAR was far better Anyway - the starting money is a good idea, and as GR says, it's quite authentic in that real-life NASCAR does the same. Dunno what they hope to achieve by sending that brochure to all these poor club racers though!! ;D

I think ASCAR is something, if you could find a good sponsor, you could convince them to get involved with it as look at the crowds it's attracting.
Did it say what the actual budgets were to run a car for a year though? I think I've read somewhere along the lines of under £50k a year ?
Hmmm..starting money is a good temptation - but who pays for that ?

I see from UK Legends www.legends-cars.com/news.php that John Jon Higgins and Steve Hobday are giving up Legends for ASCAR in 2004. Guess that glossy brochure did the trick and tempted a few from other series. They should be fast but from what I see on Motors TV its all about how fast and efficient your pits crew are and tactics as well as luck. Suppose it makes sense for John Jon to go on a high... British and World Legends Champion 2003. Best of luck to them. Ali

John Jon's got nothing left to prove in Legends (hasn't done for ages!) so this seems like a logical step - should be interesting to see how he adapts.
