We may not be getting the BTCC next season but at least the F3 and British GTs are coming back! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2003 BRITISH F3/GT CHAMPIONSHIP PROVISIONAL CALENDAR April 5/6 Donington Park National April 20/21 Snetterton May 3/4 Brands Hatch GP May 10/11 Knockhill May 25/26 Silverstone International + BTCC June 21/22 Castle Combe July 12/13 Oulton Park July 26/27 Croft August 9/10 Thruxton August 30/31Spa-Francorchamps September 6/7 Donington Park GP (F3 Only) + BTCC September 27/28 Rockingham --------------------------------------------------------------------- Also good news is the fact that at Knockhill the GTs will run two 40 minute races rather than just the one 60 minute race. Thank god we're going to get at least something big up north next year!!

Thank goodness for that - I was beginning to wonder if we were doomed to a seaon of nothing but club racing! While I love the club racing, don't get me wrong, I do like to have a big visiting series now and again as well! Noticed there's slots in the basic timetable for guest races, too... wonder if any of our club series will get a chance to support the F3s and GTs? Would be pretty cool to have the XR2s or something out, anyway - they're about the only series that hasn't had a chance in the last few years, I think

A repeat performance of decent weather, and it should be perfect. Would be nice to know more about how the GT regs would shape up, but the F3's are always quite good With two races though, will that not hurt the support bill? (please can we have the TVR's back ;D )

I don't think it'd affect the support bill hugely, as it seems the two races would be 40 minutes each, while normally there'd be one 75-minute race instead.... might cut the time down slightly, but I'd hope it'd still leave a fair bit of time for guest races Just have to keep our fingers crossed for the weather now - don't really want a repeat of 2001! :uhoh:

Over the last few years May has been a very decent Knockhill weather month - think the organisers have made a good choice of time of year, unlike TOCA who seem to think that the BTCC should always be placed in July or August (at least back in the days when TOCA came to Knockhill! ) which invariably led to wet and cold conditions. (A summer at Knockhill? Surely not!!)
As for support races, hopefully something decent will come up this year - agree with SpeedyV on the Tuscans - they were actually pretty good last year, even though I thought Knockhill isn't a track that would necessarily suit them!

Got to agree with Charlie (for once!) The GT race was dull after about lap 2. The best racing over that weekend by far was the Mini's and the FF guys.

I'll admit the cars were pretty spread out (not surprising, considering there was all of 15 of them, and all totally different kinds), but seeing them at Knockhill is a fantastic experience, and I'm definitely glad they're coming back next year

Agreed - not much enduro racing has a lot of door to door action but just watching those beasts of cars going round is worth it. Besides, the GTs will hopefully have a bigger field what with the new third class and so on, so I'm definitely looking forward to it all coming back again - makes a nice change to see something a bit different.

Just remembered, have the regs been defined for next year for the BGTs? I think it's the GTO class that's taking over as the top class?

Ooh... that's a bit harsh! :blackeye: I'm not a huge sportscar fan myself, but the British GTs aren't at all bad, even if the international series get pretty dull. Having said that, getting to see a series tends to make me like it more - some of the British GT cars are gorgeous beats, and seeing and hearing them in the flesh (or carbon fibre? ) is fantastic, even if they do get fairly spread out

That's very harsh - I love those things, stupidly powerful and very weird looking... the novelty factor as much as anything else is worth going to see. I like that series. Besides which, by coming to Knockhill it can call itself the "British" GT Championship... unlike another so called "national" series I could mention.
