I assume they are all waiting to see how this weekends debut BTCC races at the Rock go...

Well, at least we've got a chance of getting it... presumably we've got the same situation as last time, where we have to hope Rockingham go bust before the season starts?

My money is on them anouncing on the race weekend that rockingham will be in the btcc program for a certain number of years into the future (probably just a few)!
Dave.

It will be because at Boreingham you're so far away from the cars. Mind you, it's the teams that have the influence so I suppose Rockinghams pit's will be getting the thumbs up...
That's another point - the British GP support race will be another race where teams have to work from awnings. I'm positive this was one of the reasons they dropped Knockhill - and so far this season, 2 of the 4 rounds (Brands and Thruxton) have seen teams working from awnings...

Not sure about how close you can get to the cars during a BTCC meeting at Rockingham (obviously) but having attended both 2001 & 2002 CART races I know you can get in and around the cars, pits, drivers during them, albeit for an extra fee. I'm with Dave on this one though. Most likely a deal of some sort has been done for a few years at least, if only to try and help keep the wolves form Rockinghams door, especially seeing as Brands Hatch "appeared" to do a good job with the CART race this year and probably will continue with it for the next few years most likely. Although if "The Knock"...lol...is in with a shout at least...well you never know. And can someone put me right on exactly why Knockhill was not on the calander this year. I admit I don't follow the BTCC as religiously as some ( TL, I'm looking in your direction...lol) but I do remember reading in Autosport and seeing on the BBC Scotland news that basically Stuart Gray ( Grey ) was shouting about them not being able to afford it as they didn't make any money by having to pay so much money to bring it up here. And I seem to remember him saying exactly the same after the BSB meeting last year too. But I have seen a lot of people on here and elsewhere bad mouthing TOCA ( or whoever is responsible for running the BTCC ) for leaving us off the calander. So what did I miss ?? And did Stuart Grey (Gray..lol) just bring about the change either directly or indirectly by his comments about the amount they are charging ?

TL, like the pic..lol...but you really should do something about the Coulthard jaw.... ;D

And did Stuart Grey (Gray..lol) just bring about the change either directly or indirectly by his comments about the amount they are charging ? Basically, TOCA I think wanted £1.5 million pounds worth of "improvements" (ie pit lane) at Knockhill I think that's what it was, publicly though they said "lack of facilities for competitors and fans". Stuart Gray did say they struggled to break even on BTCC events, I don't know what TOCA charge to take the BTCC to Knockhill though. Not exactly sure which it was, but as I've pointed out many events involve working from awnings, so we're not getting the full picture to be honest. (likely to be one of the above though don't know which) No, it's not David Coulthard...it's "Craaaaaiiiiggg Daaaaaavvvvviiiid"....

My thought is simple - bring Knockhill back, hold the race at Rockingham on the oval, and get rid of the bloody useless Brands Indy circuit.
I fear politics will mean this won't happen

Firstly apologies to the relevant people, it was Derek Butcher and NOT Stuart Gray that made the aforementioned comments in my last post. Thanx for the info TL, as usual with these things Joe Public never gets to know what REALLY goes on behind the scenes, so it could be any, all, or none of these reasons I suppose. I don't think Derek Butcher was specifically targeting the BTCC, as I said already he said exactly the same thing after the Superbikes last year too, and I think he was meaning over the whole year the circuit was not profitable because of the amount of money they are charged for the BTCC and BSB. Jaffa6 Craig who..??...lol....only joking, but being a ...lol..."more mature listener"...I'm not particularly big on his music but I do know who he is...just.
