Makes you wonder. I guess it provides a bit of evening entertainment. Won't be quite as cool as touring cars or sportscars are in the dark.
One of the scariest/coolest moments I have ever experienced in motorsport was standing with a few friends alone in a pitch black forest about 1/2 mile down the road from Mulsanne corner at Le Mans at 1am. These days that's basically the fastest part of the circuit...there would be this huge ball of blinding light and a faint roar of engine looming towards you then blam the noise hit you and all you saw was this car streak by at 200+ mph with a giant focused cone of light illuminating the trees and the tail lights all fading into the night....leaving us alone again for a 15-20 seconds till the next one. Those guys are total heros.
Then Martin Brundle came by at 30 mph having had a puncture with most of a corner hanging off and sparks flying everwhere. Bit sureal.
