Again I feel I might be setting myself up for some stick her but if anyone is looking for a cheap, reliable and good starter car, I could be persuaded to part with mine for around £2,500. Just needs a bit of tlc.

Again I feel I might be setting myself up for some stick here.........snip.... Just needs a bit of tlc. The only TLC an XR2 gets is when an ICR mechanic gets his hands on it. ( Except for Nick's after what he's been saying when I couldn't respond  )

TLC! No comment...
No seriously, John's car is OK and for 2500 is quite a good deal. I'd even go as far as to say that it's consistently finished in front of car no 22!

Could you expand a little on the car specs and also on whether there are any spares with the car.
thanks.

I probably can't help on the spec of the car. I bought it from Iain Cowie and pretty much took his word on the car. Wouldn't have thought many spares would come with the car other than extra wheels and tyres. It had a complete engine rebuild for the start of last year and the work done on it at that time was c£2k. If you want to have a look at the car or want to know more, its at Knockhill. Best speak to Iain Cowie probably. Iain's mobile is <edited>.
Cheers,
John

Best speak to Iain Cowie probably. Iain's mobile is ... In future, it'd probably be best not to post people's phone numbers, etc up on the board - I know Iain Cowie's number is probably all over the place anyway, but it's generally regarded as best not to post personal phone numbers, etc online, just in case some idiot decides not to use it for the purpose it was posted for

Good point GR. Please take the number off the board. You could do me a great big favour and email it to the guy that it was intended for.
Sorry for being thick.

No worries - I don't usually give stuff like that a second thought myself, but I'm having to learn to look at stuff more carefully, what with being an admin and all - I just take my lead from the policies other boards/internet groups (and not all of them motorsports related) have, and take what makes sense to me

John
As no-one seems to have asked.......
From your other posts it seems you are going to be racing next season, so if you do sell your car what will you be racing in? Have you got a shiny new shell and perfectly balanced engine waiting to make an appearance in April?
Or are you deserting us and buying a Mini?

well I will be deserting you Norm, in the sense that I will be leaving you behind... seriously, I will still be in the fiestas but hopefully in a better car. Need to sell mine before I buy another though. Few irons in the fire about a replacement. You got any mates interested in getting started who might want mmine J

Thanks Ghirlracer, I got the mobile number.
I would very much like to start racing, and the XR2 series seems like a fairly appropriate place to start.
Whilst the cost of the car is not unimportant, I'm also concerned about the cost of a seasons thrashing/crashing.
Hmmm
Anyone want to try and convince me one way or another?
