I managed a trip up yesterday and like Richard got a serious ribbing from some of my southern friends regarding the lack of facilities and the poor weather. The UKFF guys had been there from wednesday and over the 5 days had lots of weather changes. The whole package is being overhauled for next year and it will be interesting to see where the GTs go if the F3/ Gt split takes place. Why did they get an April date? Why only half the normal package? Were no other dates available? Will they come back? Enjoyed the quality of the GT cars and the Lambos were really smart. It might be that the GT series will go it alone and adopt other series (Fiesta replacement) to join the package or better still give the local championship races a slot on their bill. Not impressed with the Ginettas, very agricultural and seemed to break easily although crashing into each other does not help . Good price though and a very good support service from the Ginetta staff.
Despite the April date and all the other things on yesterday (football) there was a good crowd in attendance. Lets hope those that really matter (the sponsors/promotors) saw this and that the TV coverage will reflect the fact that there is a good fan base here in Scotland who will turn out if the cars/races on show are attractive enough. The knowledge of our local commentators also helped things along.

They can't really complain about the weather - it was hard work at Silverstone this weekend as it was always somewhere between very wet and dry...in the second race, some were on wets and some on slicks which was pretty treacherous but the slicks won in the end!
I heard that the BTCC races at Rockingham were the same too (?).

Was my first real watch of racing at Rockingham - wasn't that impressed to be honest.

A couple of my friends from Cranfield work for Beechdean, they were so nasty about Knockhill and the weather! I explained to them that it has its own micro climate and the weather just doesn't blow through! Don't know about micro climate but there were certainly a lot of micro mini skirts and shorts about so obviously the weather wasn't that bad Ali

Don't think they appreciate being wheeled out at Knockhill most of the time!

I think Mr Power Images has a sense of humour... All those shots of old bangers are really scary

Dick, that's no way to describe the grid girls....!
Anyway, we never see them down at the chicane! We just got oil slicks last weekend causing mayhem!

Well it's been a while since I've been at the 'hill as purely a spectator...fantastic! Some of the best racing I've seen for a while in all categories. That was a massive shunt in the Ginetta's and very amusing to see the Ferrari up on the tyre wall (thankfully the orange folk made a run for it in the nick of time) I was astounded to see it had little more damage than a slightly squint osf bumper and headlight. Of course a good showing in the Scottish races...though never saw much of the Legends.
As for those complaining about facilities...yada yada yada. Out of all the circuits I've been to, though not many, KH lacks only shelter in the paddock for competitors, and has much more provision than Croft, where there's no restaurant (that I know of) and the toilets are miles away if you're stuck in paddock C...which we will be.

Baz Cor blimey your not joking about us making a run for it, apparantly we were very entertaining (mass ecape from Guantanamo bay was mentioned)! We all got a bit of a shock though when it didn't just stop at the tyre wall but decided to "up and over"! Poor driver couldn't get out of the car as one of those big spongy block things were jammed up against the door - still got sore shoulders from dragging it off the car! All in all, a superb race meeting.

Yep, great meeting, but tiring...I know I said I wanted to be on a post where I'd have something to do, but the Chicane was ridiculous!!! I've had whole seasons where I've helped recover fewer cars than that... Five GTs during their first race (one for each course marshal!!), though the Porsche managed to get out himself because he didn't go too far into the gravel. I reckon that over the whole weekend we got our paws on at least one of everything I looked over to McIntyres just in time to see the Ferrari go straight on into the scenery and it didn't look like he was going to stop - bet he couldn't do that again if he tried!! And I'd just like to say thanks again to the marshals for my racing car birthday cake - yum!

Content removed. Sorry Richard, but I'm not having you trying to recruit people from here to fight your battles for you on other forums, especially when it's against kids who obviously don't understand marshalling and aren't worth arguing with.

Thats fine Mike! I don't think they were "kids" . I believe they were drivers or team members etc. I am not getting involved with that website again, the people that frequent it are supposedly the same age as me but turn into vindictive 10 year olds when I disagree with them.

That was pretty much my point. Leave them in their sandpit and forget them.
