Remember everyone to look out for the Knockhill instructors, Sarah Playfair and Joe Tanner, making an appearance in the Formula Ford Duratec class. Worthwhile keeping an eye on young David Brown who leads the Scholarship Class in Neil Fishers Van Dieman. The boy won both rounds at Brands GP last weekend.

Anyway, I've been enjoying the BTCC on MotorsTV this year (no bloody VBH on Motors thankfully) so looking forward to those races - FFord should be good too. Colin McRae in a Porsche as well I understand.
The support classes this year are a little weak on paper, sadly but hopefully the main events will make up for it.

Congrats to Edinburgh for that excellent BTCC event last night. The weather was great and the crowds poured in. Knockhill were selling plenty tickets and we even got some folk interested in marshalling! Thanks to "Flash", Howell, Jordan, Giovanardi, Turkington, Pinkney, Collard, Bell, Hughes etc for keeping the troops entertained! Also, Meadows and Quaife in the non-touring cars!
See you all at the weekend... could be wet on Saturday but OK on Sunday... allegedly...!!

Yep Edinburgh was great, just uploading the pics right now.
BTCC.net reckons there were 12,000 people there.! Maybe!!! Doubt it!

Good day out despite the weather... the BTCC races were brilliant - we always managed to stand in the right place at the right time (SEAT for race 1 for the Marsh/Bell & Smith/Pinkney shunts, Clark for race 2 for Shedden's crash and then the Plato-induced pileup and the hairpin for race 3 to see the great Halford vs Turkington fight and then Turner trying to wipe all the Vauxhalls out) so it was great stuff. Best BTCC races at Knockhill since the super-touring era I'd say. Most of the supports were a little dull if I'm honest. Can't remember seeing much in the FBMW, Seat, Porsche, Caterham races (32 cars!) though we took a big interest in the FFord races as Sarah Playfair had kindly put a couple of our stickers on her brand new Mygale. She did a great job in the first race and just missed the podium but it was a real shame that she spun out of the second. We did the Sime Racing hospitality thing at the BT Lodge this year to pay Sarah back for putting the stickers on the car as she'd sorted out a deal with them and while the Sime guys were great - nice welcome, good food around, some freebies and some nice shelter - it's clear that the two of us aren't really the hospitality "type". We were at a table with some corporate guys who didn't seem to watch any of the races at all - indeed during one of the touring car races they apparently wandered into the pits to get their picture taken with Vicky Butler-Henderson... nothing wrong with them, they were nice enough guys but VERY different to us. I think we're too common to get involved with the champagne set.

Most hospitality type things are like that I guess Mike. My brother has quite a few at rugby matches - I don't think they could give a toss about the Rugby.
I disagree though that we (as in motorsport people) are common, I'd say its the other way round old chap!
I would have said it was Turner and Giovanardi to blame for the race 2 pile up, not JP though!

Good result for Sarah in race one. Pity about race two. Hard weekend for the rest of the Scottish boys although David brown increased his Scholarship lead to 55 points.

Hey, just finished catching up with the Touring Cars and support races on Motors TV (I taped them, since I was crashing the XR2 at the weekend ). Fantastic racing Thought I was watching some mad club racers in the touring car races with all the contact, pile ups and safety cars - typical of good close racing at Knockhill and pleased to see it. Glad it dryed up for everyone too, know only too well how the rain can spoil a good days racing. Agreed the support races weren't at their best, though the Caterhams were entertaining through sheer numbers and the Seats weren't too bad either. Plenty marshals made an appearance on telly too - who were the "Status Quo" impressionists at McIntyre's after the second Seat Cupra race?- two marshals were caught on camera with their "brush-guitars" as they wandered through the gravel trap . Had to feel for the poor marshals who'd been sweeping their heart out at the bottom of Duffus when the road sweeper arrived though (just before said Cupra race) Baz

Nice pics, Blair, especially as I am in 2 of them!
One replacing yet another floppy at the chicane and the other pushing Turkington's car in behind the marshals' hut at the chicane. What most folk won't know is that the car actually caught fire round there causing minor consternation amongst those who had their own cars parked nearby... including yours truly! Fortunately, it was quickly extinguished.
Have to disagree with you on the race 2 last lap pile up... from our vantage point at the chicane, Plato made a late lunge at Neal and turned him round causing mayhem!! Maybe we missed something there but that's what it looked like!
Regards David

Eeeek! I didn't realise the car had actually caught fire, and I was at the same post (albeit at the other side of the track during that race)!! Did see you all rushing to the back end of the car just after getting it parked, but didn't know why - thought maybe Tina had fainted at the sight of the lovely Colin Turkington ;D ;D

Dont know if it was a late lunge more just a blatent attempt to run Neal off the road. Geovinardi was slowing them and Plato was pushing hard to catch them. I think it was just rewards for what Neal did to Plato earlier in the race and Neal admitted he'd done it. So all's fair in love and war. Im sure Plato only had one thing in his mind as he pushed hard to get to the back of that Integra. I used to like Neal but ive really gone off him. Its mainly due to his personality and his Dad seems a tosser. The Paul Stodard of the BTCC imho. I support Sheds and Plato.
