I agree with GPM... Scotland could do with at least one other track if only to keep the Hill on its toes. The question is "where" and who would fund it?
That said - there are at least a couple of "away" races every year so I'm not sure that there is any real resistance to "going South" other than the ever present consideration on cost.
As to small grids and outdated cars although I agree the XR2 is outdated in the sense that it doesn't have the niceties of the more modern machines such as the Minis the main advantage it does have is that it's "affordable". This counts for a lot at club level. If there was no XR2 racing then there would be a lot less people involved.
Actually, having become an avid watcher of lap times since Andrew started racing one of the things that surprises me is that the Minis are not actually that much quicker and are often not quicker at all.

Even at away rounds the XR2's normally manage 15 to 20 entries, the 'modern' classes can't always manage that at Knockhill

Anyone remember the Forrestburn circuit project that fell flat when the major investor passed away? Big plans for an F1 grade circuit including a shorter club circuit, plus it would have been much more accessible than Knockhill (halfway between Gla and Edi on the M8). Shame it never came to fruition, though there's a very successful hillclimb running there now that was phase one of the project (yes, I am biased!).
I'm sure we still have a copy of the plans somewhere...if someone out there has a few million quid somewhere ;D

That was the circuit Knockhill opposed to at the highest level, basically it'd have probably put the hill out of business.
Would have been easier for me to get to, but then if the place had no character it would have been rubbish!

Is there any movement on this subject or has the idea gone stale?

Latest was that the idea needed some changes as not all the classes were 100% keen. It's still on the table though.

Surprised to see in Wheelspin that it's C5 and Motors TV... no complaints - a terrestrial and satellite option is pretty cool. Wonder how long the show for each meeting will be or if it'll be split into a couple of series per episode... they'd have a job fitting 8 series into a single show! Here's the company website - looks like schedules will be on their website for viewing which will be useful. www.amgtv.co.uk/index.htm

As I understand it Iain Cowie is also now offering a make-up service to ensure all the drivers look their best for that all important close up shot seconds after slamming into the tyre wall.
The only slight concern I have is that Charlie's apparently doing it and was recently seen in Boots buying foundation and mascara in bulk ;D
