David, you forgot to mention that Mike G "spun" the Vauxhall Monaro course car at Butchers on Sunday ;D. KJR hehe, thought he was gunning the engine of that thing and throwing it round the corners a bit forcefully!

I've just seen the TV coverage of the BTCC races from Knockhill last night and saw the various incidents of Plato and Muller, the first race saw Yvan blatantly shove Matt Neal off at McIntyres after Matt pulled off a great pass on the straight, very dissapointed that Yvan feels the need to indulge in this type of driving as he certainly has the abillity to do better.
The next incident was Plato and Howell at the Hairpin,my feelings on this one are that it looked more like a road rage incident, Howell was trying to pass as the Safety Car was deployed, and Jason was obviously not pleased about it,so Plato decided to biff Howells car in the left rear sending him into the barrier in the process, once again a deliberate move by the driver.
The final incident in race 3 involved just about all the front running drivers, but basically Yvan's car had just suffered some sort of engine failure,he then proceeded to block Matt Neal as he exited McIntyres, resulting in everyone behind getting bunched up,as he approached the chicane he slowed to an unacceptable level, and drivers being race drivers, all hell broke loose as everybody went for it at the chicane, this one I feel was more of a racing incident than the other ones, but definitely unacceptable behaviour by Yvan which caused it in the first place,I'd be interested to hear Dagman's views on that one as he'd have a great view of it,and I'll bet he was very surprised to see all the cars make it through in one piece.
Congrats to Rob Collard, good to see one of the little guys get a race win.
On the photo side of things,I noticed that even the TV cameras were having trouble getting good shots,so that made me feel not so bad,an apalling day for photography,I even had to change the camera setting to the fastest virtual film speed setting, something I've never had to resort to before, due to poor lighting and that awful drizzly persistent rain.I wonder how MB got on with his camera?.

I think the first incident at McIntyres was Muller getting one back on Neal after Neal shoved Muller out of the way at Snetterton - still not on though... We'd be up in front of the clerk of the course if we tried some of those moves - and rightly so! GR/MH - I don't think anyone intentionally closed up the anwings but it was so bad, it was freezing working on the cars. We had the BBQ on all day in the Apex awning and shut the doors to keep the heat in - if we are ever 'zipped up' (if you pardon the phrase) in future, just wave through the windows and we'll let you in...that goes for all if you need somewhere to get dry. Hi Ken, I was on the outside of the chicane when that melee happened and I was most surprised no-one was left in the gravel. Muller had obviously got a problem because suddenly Collard's lead had grown and Muller had a horde of cars right on him but he seemed to make no effort to get out the way at Butcher's thus causing mutliple contacts. They were off the track between Butcher's and chicane, through the chicane on wrong side of the bollards and then off wide on the exit! Even our observer gave up on that one as so much happened so quickly! Am looking forward to seeing exactly what happened on ITV on Saturday!! Trust you have some photos about to go on your site??!
Nick, is that an open invite to your awning? Place will be packed out at the next wet race meeting!!
Cheers David

Hiya all, only just dried out after Sunday! The racing looked not bad, and I had a laugh from McIntyres at whatever happened up @ the chicane in the third race with Neal, etc! Will watch that on TV today! Jonathan Adam only dropped 4 points to Pead after two second places, losing the first by 0.013secs! Ken, I did get photos, although due to packed shelters I was exposed to the elements, which in the 3rd btcc race meant my camera started to pack up a little! It's dry now and fine. Hopefully the photos will be up on my new website within the next week or so. I took a friend along from school, who'd never been to a race meeting or Knockhill, fingers in ears at the hairpin with the popping of the gears, and felt sorry for him that there wasn't better weather! Aw well, that's Knockhill! Michael

That reminds me, standing at McIntyres for race 2, there was this woman walking by when Plato 'popped' his car changing his gear, think this woman got a big fright cos she jumped a fair bit

Hi MB, I suffered something similar during race 2 at the Hairpin,I wondered why things were looking foggy,to discover that I had condensation inside the lens , but luckily a quick dash back to the car and with the heater on full blast,I managed to dry it out just in time for the following Porsche race. BTW I don't know if you made it round to Clark, but I discovered that the fronts of BOTH stands are now protected by that wire fencing, obviously for safety reasons.Which now means that panning shots are now impossible to get while under cover at Clark. BTCC photo's will appear soon on my site also.

Safety reasons? I always think those fences don't looke the most robust. Would like to see them stop an errant wheel...
(btw I wouldn't like to see that if anyone thinks thats what I'm saying.)

I quite agree touringlegend,I certainly wouldn't feel confident standing behind them with bits of cars flying towards me . But on the other hand is something better than nothing.Regardless of their effectiveness,I'll still be ducking down behind the guardrail if it were to happen.Lets hope we never find out.

Ken Although I had a chammy to cover the top, it was the spray and rain on the lens that was getting on my nerves! Eventually, decided to use paper towels which were much better at cleaning. But it was the actual lens - wouldn't focus, etc. And being at the other side of the circuit from the car, I could't blow it dry! It was in the third race so wasn't too bad. Ever been up at the chicane when a car goes straight on into the tyres in front of you while taking photos through the big hole in fence? Yes I did jump and turn away when a formula ford did! The fences at Clark aren't exactly the best, and are a pain in the a**e when trying to take pictures. Anyway the shelters were too busy to get in. Thing is everywhere you go you are always very close to the track, so anything could happen. Michael

Shelters were busy but I find you just have to ve very ignorant and lose your courtesy for the day Never had a car into the barriers right in front of me, although I did have the Thommo/Neal shunt last year at the chicance in front of me.

During one of the stock car Summer Series things a couple of years back a Nova got sideswiped and turned head-on into the barrier directly in front of where I was standing. The crowd ran in all directions scattering chips and pies as they went and I almost fell over backwards. You never realise how close you really get to the track at Khill until that happens!
