Anyone who wants a sneak preview of my new design, the NS-R XR2 should be in the back of Jim Geddie's truck with the GT3... For those who missed it or weren't there, courtesy of SCR.co.uk.....

Spotted it beside the painted truck in the paddock but was a bit disapointed after all the hype just to see a couple of big Apex Tubular stickers stuck on it! I had a great day yesterday, racing was fantastic, had good company and going out on track was amazing - we only got one lap but driving round the track on the same day as the touring cars, seeing the crowd etc... was great. Mind you if id been marshalling id probably have done that anyway... Heres a video of driving round the track from my car: www.fifecruisers.co.uk/knock.avi

Ah so it was you lot out on track. Was eating my chips when I looked round to see a Skyline ? Drifting all the way round Duffus then McIntyres then I saw some Pug 106 on track and thought WTF ? Read elsewhere on the forum, take it was the boss of Apex Tubulars who was out in the Porsches ? Got a question for Nick, when are you having a race in that GT3 then ?

We had a pretty good day at chicane. Seems there was much more action this side of the track than at hairpin. Big incident on Saturday was James Pickford rolling his car on to its side in the gravel trap after suffering an alleged suspension failure and hitting the tyres hard during the second free practice. He was fine but the car a bit crumpled. I sat in it to release the clutch as it was stuck in gear and James had been taken to the medical centre for a checkup. I then sat in it on the truck holding it on the brake. We stopped at the tri-oval whereupon the Seat team appeared. One of them opened the door and said "Hey, there's a bloke in 'ere!" They then covered the car up with me still in it before taking it to the Seat transporter so I hadn't a clue where I was till I was getting instructions to come off the brakes and dip the clutch for them to unload it. Once off the truck they took the cover off the car and there I was in the middle of the Seat team's work area with loads of people looking on! I think they were as surprised as I was when they saw a human appear from under the covers!
Plenty other incidents happened, many of which I can't recall who were involved! Hoardings shattered and scattered over the track several times! 2 such incidents causing safety car intervention. FRenaults spinning at Butchers and being collected by another... that happened once in each race.
In the touring cars, Williams's Lexus died at the hill up to chicane having deposited its driveshaft at McIntryres on the warm up lap. Gareth Howell got shoved off at McIntyres and was towed up to chicane to park the car. He watched the race from there and the language was unrepeatable when we saw Muller tap Neal wide to retake the lead! We had Gavin Smith pushed into the gravel on the opening lap of race 2 (I think) and then had the Lexus team wipe each other out when one spun out the chicane whilst his following team mate succeeded in hitting him as if he was trying to! Dan Eaves also paid us a visit when something went wrong with his steering.
Best moment came in race 3 when Muller slowed with a problem coming down from McIntyres which caught out Neal and a few others. 4 cars were all over the place there and through the chicane and on to the back straight with Neal and another way off the road and Neal getting on last though when they came back next time round he was ahead of them all! How we didn't get anyone in gravel or tyres was a miracle!
Great to see Rob Collard at long last get that first win.
I did hear that the hairpin had been pretty quiet so now you know where most of the action was!!
Duffus also had a bit too... one of the Frenaults going in to the tyres hard necessitating the doctor and careful removal of the driver. Also, our friend Pickford went off again, this time at the bottom of Duffus and this time pranging the rear of the car which was perched atop the tyre wall!
Monday was a lovely day here.... how frustrating after the wet Sunday....
Roll on Sept 11......Oh, a word of advice for the SMRC racers, chicane also now has an extended gravel trip on the exit so don't run too wide or you probably won't get back out... Fiona Leggate tried it out and it worked... red flag in free practice! David

I've just seen the clips of the races and I was appaled at the driving standards by Plato and Muller especially - they both put other cars off the track in very blatant moves and Muller deliberately blocking the field when he was breaking down to try and get Neal crashed out was just pathetic. I really hope those two go off to the WTCC next season as I'd be happy to see the back of them and their dodgy driving.

Hi All, Well, typical Knockhill weather again which seemed to put a halt to any racing in most of the support races on Sunday, fortunately there was quite a bit of action in the BTCC races, didn't see any of the incidents involving Plato and Muller, but not surprised to hear about their driving standards, and if their as bad as I've heard something should be done before someone gets seriously hurt.Like most others I'm not particularly interested in the single seaters especially in those weather conditions so I chose to dry out in the car during those races.
I went to the paddock area on the Saturday as that is a quieter day for getting pics, and unlike the Sunday the awnings are open, although I think the weather on Sunday was more likely the reason the awnings were closed as normally the BTCC is pretty good in that respect.
I saw Nick's car on Saturday and has been said he's just pinched some of Jim's stickers from the Porsche, still looks pretty good though.
I did catch sight of KF and GR heading towards the Hairpin for BTCC race 2 but didn't see them after that.
Top bloke for the weekend has to be Gordon Shedden for his races in the Porsche, 3rd in Saturday's race, then out in the rain first thing Sunday morning directing traffic into the circuit, followed by a great race on Sunday to come 2nd and to top it off a display of donuts at the hairpin to keep the fans happy.
See you all for the real racing in two weeks.

Firstly, congrats on the marriage Baz - hope to see you back out soon. Sweetieman - yep, that will have been me with the repribates - we did start on the booze at 8.30 in the morning! Dave - it's unlike me to hype it upa bit TL - Yeah, Jim Geddie races in the Sports and Saloons with the GT3 - I'm going nowhere near the thing since it cost around 80K - and look what happened at Cadwell. The NS-R car is only staying like that for the remaining 4 races then if I use it next year, it will be very very different... I think I've just about dried out now that I'm back in sunny Yorkshire!!! Cheers, Nick www.ns-r.co.uk

There's a few options open at present. Firstly, I have to win the championship - it's certainly not over yet although I hope it is after the 2nd race on Sept 11th - I can clinch it as long as I have a 56 point lead after the 2nd race (67 at present). Jim Geddie (Mr Apex)'s son will be racing an XR2 in 2006 so we either build or buy a new car or he could possibly use mine... Although I've had a go in a Caterham, I'm not going to race one full time. Mini's could be an option but not too sure due to the cost - it depends on sponsorship for 2006 but I haven't ruled it out yet. I'll be testing the ICR mini later in the year... Alternatively, I may defend the title (if I win it) - we'll just have to wait and see - I might pick up a VXR drive by then.....then again I may wake up first... Nick www.ns-r.co.uk

That all sounds good hope you do well on the 11th and get the title in the bag, noticed that one of the front running minis is for sale on this site for 10k which I thought was pretty reasonable, see you on the 11th anyway.

Thanks Wedgie.... forgot about that!! He did get reported back to race control as a "spun and continued"!!!
Reminds me of an incident at the Rallycross months ago when a car broke down near us and as I went down to see what was wrong, I disappeared into a hidden ditch. The observer allegedly reported in requesting a straight tow for car xx and a full lift for David! She said she was joking but am not too sure... !!

Incidentally there are some good pics on crash.net of the Touring Cars, in particular a sequence of pics of Pickford's shunt including a fine one of yours trully helping him out of the car! I'm the one in the brown cap which on the Sunday was turned a differnt shade of brown courtesy of pushing a FRenault out of the mud....!
