12 cars on track at Donnington? And given that the Lexus has run 2 laps in both sessions with a best time of 20 odd minutes it's safe to say there are only 11 cars in the races tomorrow. How did this happen?

Well... afterall the Lexus did run and completed all the races on Sunday.
I am sure the 2nd Lexus will be out at Thruxton - that's 13 cars..
WSR will most likely have a 2nd ZS out by Brands Hatch - that's 14..
GA Motorsport bought a brand new Alfa Romeo 156 - i think we'll see it within the first 3/4 rounds - that's 15.
Arena Motorsport were due to run 1 CTR then Chilton decided he wanted to race the MG ZT in DTM - that may be tits up now with MGR going bust. There was also due to be a 2nd CTR - that's 17 cars.
Then there is the case of a certain ex works team owner who was due to run 2 LPG power 307's but then went and did the daft thing of being caught by HM Customs with a lot of white stuff! - that'd be 19 cars.
Then there is the case of the works team that decided the timing wasn't right and they will wait till 2006 to enter - thats from Alan Gow too.
We could well have had 20 cars easily, but what I'm basically trying to say is the BTCC has been very unfortunate this year I feel.
The WTCC has 30+ grids, it can't be right that the BTCC that has HUGE TV coverage can't get something respectable like 20 car grids etc..

It'll certainly be cracking races - SEAT have had 40kg taken off their base weight - the only downside may be the grid size.
Tom Chilton and Arena are competing this weekend, at the moment for this weekend only, which would have pushed the grid up, but Mark Proctor is missing Thruxton to sort out his Astra engine probs.

Just got back from a weekend of BTCC, sun (burn) and alcohol - the touring cars were good despite the small entries...Dan Eaves drove 3 superb races - still not sure what happened to the SEAT's in the last race as Plato was well ahead. The Clios and Porsches were the best races although the Formula BMW and Renault were good with big grids. The best bit was that the Thruxton guys forgot to charge us on the way in on the Saturday so we got two full days of racing for free! Nick www.ns-r.co.uk

Bit of a stinker that there's a ton of TV coverage and no bugger wants to be on the grid?
I'll be making my annual visit for the touring cars even though it doesn't sound like the series is in rude health ATM, but a day out is a day out......
