I assume everybody else here with a season ticket got a letter from Knockhill yesterday. They say they expect the BTCC to be back next year on the 28th July which I reckon to be a Thursday ?!?! Maybe it's gonna be one of these evening race thingys cos Croft is on the 24th of July, provisionally. Don't know. Or did they just mean to type the 27th June ?

I've got it as a Wednesday. I'm taking this with a massive pot full of salt - Knockhill are always overly optimistic about what they're going to be having the following season - it's more likely than not a pre-season ticket excitement factor thing to get people's money out. That's maybe a bit overly cynical of me but after the things we've heard about ASCAR, the Touring Cars etc etc in the past I can't help myself. Expecting a letter in October 2004 saying they fully expect to host a Grand Prix in 2005

Rumour has it that the BTCC is actually returning to Knockhill! Not on the official TOCA site yet, but Redshoes has it, anyway... can't believe they've seen sense, but well done whoever had the brains to bring Alan Gow back!

Looks like it's a done deal if this is anything to go by: www.redshoes-racing.com/cgi-bin/news/viewnews.cgi?newsid1065201151,10820, Frankly I'm absolutely amazed that KHill got the nod over the Rock, but it shows the common sense approach of Alan Gow is thankfully back. The geographical spread is complete again. EDIT: the link doesn't work if you click on it - copy the whole URL into your browser (including the numbers after the comma!)

I was shocked, to say the least! I think Rockingham must be pencilled in as a reserve incase Knockhill doesn't come up to standards. Wonder what they are ? Might go ask Alan Gow... Gow does have some sense...Scotland is a very important market for the likes of Vauxhall, Ford, Renault etc..even tho Renault nor Ford aren't in the BTCC Renault does have a couple of support packages and you never know when/if Ford will be back. Still shocked it got it over the Rock, which I have to admit is a first class facility from what I've seen. I know one or two people who have said to me "Gow should go back to his island" Oh, and Croft and Knockhill within two weeks, gonna be my fill within 2 weeks over And I was even considering the GP meet too...:s )

No - we didn't, obviously our pigeon couldn't make the 20 mile journey to the coast and give us the great news. Let's hope that Knockhill can organise the circuit improvements better than their Season ticket holder's newsletters!

Excellent news, I can actually go to a BTCC race and not risk suffering heart failure at the ATM.
But three races? I'd feel sorry for any poor sod who blows his car beyond repair in the first one.....

Yeah, it's not like the BTCC ever has a problem producing crashes so it looks like the drivers may have to show a bit of restraint.
It's going to be like going to watch the Legends! ;D

I have heard that the races will be 13 laps long...they're only shorter to accomadate the ETCC cars.
Anyway I reckon it's quite a good idea to have 3 races, short ones too, there's no time to play about on strategies its basically just go for it!
i wonder if the points system will be the same next year ?

13 laps?? The XR2s race for longer than that! Oh well, it'll certainly be sprint racing, anyway... and I'm glad to see them back at all

I asked Alan Gow what improvements were needed at Knockhill for the races to be secured and apparently it's pretty minor and easy to sort stuff like water and electricity. If those don't get sorted next year I'll be seriously dissapointed! Oh, and no mention of the toilets...

I'm willing to bet there are as many if not more toilets at Knockhill than at several other tracks in the UK ever since the new blocks went up at the far side of the hairpin and at McIntyres - if I hear that complaint from the pansies who come here expecting "facilities" (not sure what they expect - it's a racing track not a shopping mall) again I'll explode...

Oh, and no mention of the toilets... To deprive any circuit of a race on the grounds of the condition of the toilets is a bit cack-handed in my books. Looks like I'll be on the run(s) from the pun police again.

"pansies" = the English ! ;D Having been to Croft, the toilets there were of the portable variety. They were very nice from the outside but left a lot to be desired elsewhere....
