No idea on the politics involved if any, but I would say this situation seems more amicable between parties than the KDMC thing did.
The marshalling situation to me is an interesting one that all you guys will have to weigh up. With the SMRC you are doing it for a club that is there for it's members and not to make a profit to pay folk, shareholders etc. KMSC is quite different. I do realise that ultimately Knockhill gets money either way.
I was Clerk of the Course for the BSC round for many years and every year the price went up by about 20% and we kept being told when to run - usually in early Spring when it was wet and cold. KH said event with the £8k we were giving them they could get more money from another event on that day. As far as the Speedfair is concerned they have to do more to get some decent grids of historics to come. I do a couple of series and we have been with the GTS series a few years back but in few wanted to come back in 2010. Historic series can get some great deals and hospitality at other tracks and as most of the racers live down south it is cheaper and easier to go to places like Spa than head to KH. If they want to get a decent historic meetign they will have to put their hand in their pocket like other tracks do.
Oh that was the best fun I've had in a long time for sure. Goes to show that the ST/XR2 mix that's proposed for next year will work a treat. Free practice was good, handy to get back out for a test before going at it in anger. Qualified poor due to not being able to adapt to the drying track well enough, then had a great race with Elaine Marshal in both races and managed to come from 15th to 9th in race one and 13th to 8th in race 2.
Have to say it was very well run. Minimal time between races and 45-ish minutes track time over the course of the day was superb.
