Everyone was avoiding them from what I could see. They're not rideable imho
Lap times are going to suffer but braking zones being lengthened won't be a bad thing for racing.

Seems Sheridan has been humped. Don't know the circumstances but expect he's f**king angry! Looks expensive.

Watching from Scotsman I assumed he clipped the humps too as did the spectators as I wandered round that way but according to the drivers - apparently not...
Real shame for John especially after his XR2 being badly damaged. Didn't take a close look at the car but not much useable will come off it.

From where I was observing at McIntyres/Scotsman, he appeared to get squeezed out and clipped the inner kerb. Heard it rolled 6 times. Unfortunately, my predictions in my posting of 18 March seem to have come true..

We were standing up at Macintyres and it looked like Orr came up round the outside of Butchers and muscled in to the inside for the left part of the chicane (you can see he was airborne himself in one of the power images pics so must have ridden the kerbs himself). They didn’t leave each other enough space at that point although seeing the guy stripping the salvage off his car in the pits afterwards (ie the seat and steering wheel), he was pointing out tyre burns on the rear where he reckoned he was tagged (and to be fair, the marks weren't there before Orr got along side) Bottom line, the white ST got squeezed on to the kerb on the inside of the right hander and since he was also attempting to turn right at the time, he pretty much did a perfect stunt school flip. 70mph, turn in to it, hit a ramp. The result was always going to be a roll even if he’d applied as much oppo as possible. There were a lot of categories racing on Sunday and some kerb clipping. Unfortunately this was the only incident that could have produced a roll and it did. The chicane has never been a place to try side by side through, so now they’ve got raised kerbs making it impossible to run off circuit on either apex, its really not the time to start trying. Is John the guy whose XR2's rear beam snapped in testing last year in March?
Blair had an interesting line through there one lap right enough, whilst leading race two. Took the kerbs right out the equation...

I thought the grass needed trimming!
But, the total off the circuit moment was because yes, I could have slowed, but the position I was in with the other ST, the amount I would have had to slow down would have compromised me an awful lot on the corner exit. And I certainly wasn't going anywhere near those kerbs - and at that point I didn't realise that was the cause of John's accident.
On that point - I agree that Knockhill need to stop the corner cutting. But this seems a massively over reactive measure and we all can see what it produces when someone, through no fault of his own ended up hitting them. Even in the heat of the moment during the races, I clipped them a few times just in no more, and the amount of air - about 1 - 2 seconds worth they give you is pretty surprising.
There surely must be a more convenient method. What is wrong with the foam blocks there - a few people pointed this out - OK if you hit them you are still going to incur probably a lot of front end damage but I'd rather repair that than start to build another car.
Or can't there even be shallower kerbs where these humps are, but extremely rough so that anytime you do hit them your fillings fall out?
The rest of the corners with humps are absolutely fine, it is just the chicane that is most likely to see you squeezed over onto them.

Blair, after experiencing them for the first time myself yesterday, I have to say that I 100% agree with you. All of the other humps are absolutely fine and do exactly what they are meant to. The ones at the chicane however, especially the inside one at the top, are horrible if you clip them. I too think the chicane should be looked at again...... and soon before we see some further accidents.

Not ridden/avoided the new ones but Cadwell have a good 'avoid me' kerbing which makes car vibrate like mad and slows you down but without any dramatics. It is some sort of castellated or ridged kerbstone - feels like an instant puncture but didn't seem to damage my XR2 there last year when I hit it a few times.

Yeah, Oulton had the same but they've also introduced donut kerbs, I think its MSA driven to curb kerb-hopping. The serrated kerbs at Oulton will also knacker sidewalls if hit before up to temp and can anihilate balljoints and driveshafts.

I'm just wondering how the bikes are liking the new kerbs?
I'd imagine it's going to hurt like h*ll if you catch one with a knee or elbow, never mind if you get 'shouldercharged' or lent on and forced over one.
That scenario just scares the h*ll out of me

Charlie makes a very valid point about the bikes! That is a scary thought.

It's a win win situation for KH really - protects the grass and a few limbs ripped off or cars written off increases the gate numbers.
