Aside from the accidents themselves, strikes me the pace car procedure could use a little more finetuning, felt sorry for the XR2s below 8th place in race 1 who were basically out of the race after that confusion -! I was actually in 9th at that point with Findlay Adams in front of me and directly behind the safety car. When we were eventually waved past, Findlay didn't seem sure of what he should be doing. I was frantically waving and gesticulating with him from behind to get a move on and catch up with the field but he didn't spot me. After the race I had a wee chat with him and he admitted that he wasn't 100% sure of the procedure. He had spotted various marshals waving and pointing at him, and he thought they were telling him he was going too fast under the safety car boards, so he just kept it steady. (The above is not in any way slagging Findlay off, just an account of his own explanation ) My overall weekend was fairly eventful also. I qualified in 12th which disappointed me a wee bit. I managed a 65.9 in qauli, where I had been doing 65.5's all day in practice. It's amazing that even at this lowly end of the motorsport spectrum, half a bloody second seems like an absolute age! In race 1 I made a good start and had some nice battles with Barry and Findlay before the safety car came into play. After the restart I was again mixing it with Barry & Findlay when Wayne got himself amongst us too. He had managed to get past me at Carlube just as the ST's were starting to get between us all, but I then got a good run around the outside of the hairpin and thought I'd taken the place back. As I was getting back on the power Wayne was squeezing me from the right (as he was being squeezed over by one of the ST's), and we touched. Wayne ended up in the gravel and I managed to keep it on the track. We had a wee "discussion" about this later and I think we agreed to disagree about what happened . Anyway, I eventually finished 9th which was my best so far ;D 2nd race - starting from 9th, I again got quite a good start, but blew it again after Duffus when I dropped a couple of places. After that the car was feeling good and I was sure I could gain on the guys in front. Then as I was heading over Duffus again, I knew I had braked a wee bit early, and I could see Chris Philip right on my boot lid. As I got over the brow and started to turn left I hadn't seen that Chris had started a move up the inside. I was still a bit ahead of him and his front wing connected with my passengers door and spun me round. I can remember then sliding sideways down the track and looking at Chris through my passenger side window. I then found myself spinning around to face the correct direction again, and I booted it in the hope of catching it and being able to continue. It wasn't to be however and I ended up in the gravel. I have to say a big thanks to all of the Marshals as you guys really do know your stuff. Obviously as a driver, the adrenalin is still pumping and you're not always in a great frame of mind as you climb out of a bent car..... but as always, some helpful words and good humour get us all calmed down So I'm then sitting watching from behind the fence when all hell breaks loose at Duffus. Although I have huge sympathy for all of the guys who suffered damage, when the red flags came out, my first question was "If there is a restart, can I be in it?" After some checks with race control I was given the confirmation that if my car wasn't too badly damaged or unsafe, I could restart from the back of the grid........ which was what I did. I have to say I was pretty fired up (more buzzing than red mist however ) I think there were 10 cars at the restart of the new 5 lapper, and I managed to get get myself up into 6th by the end, which for me felt like a podium finish! Just got to work out how I can afford to get the car straightened out for the next one now!

Just got to work out how I can afford to get the car straightened out for the next one now! There's only a couple of rounds to go - just bash out what you can rather than spend loads getting it looking pristine.

yes it was an eventful day even at Clarks where I had my fair share of customers, one even liked our company that much he paid a repeat visit in the afternoon, one or 2 that managed to spin and escape not to mention a certain ST driver that tried his hardest while warming tyres to "do an edwards" think he knows now that you dont generate heat while on gravel enjoyed the racing, had a good squad on post with a lot of banter but got the job done. Good racing in most series, loved that capri V8

Pretty eventful day at chicane too, nothing serious fortunately but plenty minor stuff.. and a repeat visitor too! A certain FF driver who went into the tyres in race one, bending the left front corner. On the warm up lap of race two, the same corner collapsed as he rounded Butchers.... he did say he wasn't that good a welder... Nice chat with the realDC on the banking although I'm sure he'd rather have not had the opportunity!!
There's only a couple of rounds to go - just bash out what you can rather than spend loads getting it looking pristine.
I've already got a door and a wing sitting around, so it's not going to be a huge expense in the grand scheme of things. All of the other little scrapes, dents and cracks in the plastic bits will just be given a t-cut or covered with some gaffer tape! Oh.... and for anyone wondering about the new number plates on my car.... (Gravel Trap - Greg), they were put on by Wullie, my mate who looks after the car for me. In 3 race weekends I've been stuck in the gravel each time (not my fault either.... honest!! ). He's not allowing me to take them off until I can get through a weekend with 2 race finishes and no trips to the gravel traps. With my run of luck, they might be on there for a while yet

DC, you should have wandered up the banking a bit where Gillian (mcintyremarshal) was offering to get folk massages.....(see earlier in this thread). Think she was getting Mike all excited till she mentioned getting one of the doctors to do it..!

Bit late... Not a bad weekend but not a great one either. Bad test day with carb problems but thankfully Baz had a spare one going and it seemed to work well in qually. Got some mega traffic in qual, think at one point I had Russell M, Sandy and another car which I've forgot lol going 3 wide up the main straight which was not the most welcome sight you want when going for a fast lap Race 1 - Interesting start with Russell M going crazy at the bottom of duffis, great save it was though and then when I past Alex up the main straight with his misfire (can I only pass people with unhealthy cars?) it was a case of chasing Derek lap afetr lap. Then came the safety car and for some reason I pulled a Vettell and was asleep when I saw the lights going out, made Russell M's job of passing me much easier lol and 7th it was Race 2 - Jeepers basically. Nice start and was having with Derek with him having a big momment out of the chicane then getting past him later on, then came the oil slick. I did see the flag but thought the liquid would be perhaps at the bottom of duffis as I saw greg's car in the barrier the lap before, alas it wasnt and cue a mega slide at the top of duffis, somehow caught it then didnt see Derek behind, thought he had maybe spun because of my antics and was really worried when I saw the red flag and the ambulance. Then on the restart had an incident, thought I was screwed as the impact did feel big and heard a weird noise, pulled off then found out it was fine to keep going Wont discuss the actual crash as per the forum rules, was a bit annoyed afterwards but after a few days its just a racing deal really and no point starting a massive brawl
