Admittedly, not as good as a day at Knockhill. Usually at the hill the car is at hand, whereas today it was on the other side of the Firth of Clyde!!!!
Can't say I'm too keen on looking at cars running on their own, and sitting on static display. There's also the fact that there's more trees round there which limits the view really!
But I liked the F1 cars!! The Williams and BAR cars were amazingly loud, next step - go to the British GP next year!
On the note of F1 it was weird to see what Allan McNish looks like in person, (and talk to him briefly!!). Still, he didn't say what he was doing next year... (although he was spotted in the Williams tent, and drove a Honda road car round the course ! :s ) Takuma Sato demonstrated the BAR Honda and basically he drove it fast, while Marc Gene in the Williams had clouds of smoke everywhere and the BMW V10 bouncing off the rev limiter!
Think one of my favs has to be the Super 1600 Renault Clio driven by Robbie Head and WRC presenter Jon Desborough. Very very nice for a 1600cc motor
Running at the same time was a Renault 5 rally car, a Renault Clio V6 road car and one of SRE Motorsports Clio Cup cars.
Saw some of the Mini Coopers doing timed runs. Haven't a clue what the results are - plus there's still tomorrows runs to go so the champion hasn't been decided yet. But they were up to the usual antics - understeering and locking brakes left right and centre - I believe Sarafilovic went straight into the (metal) barriers going by the tyre marks that were left!
Could go on and on forever about all the different cars there - oh and sweetest old F1 car there was the JPS Lotus (black and gold colourscheme) that Johnny Dumfries raced in 1986!
