Interesting, Ali...
There was a story going round at the Motor Show a few weeks ago that there were plans afoot to re-open Ingliston next year. Can't recall who told me but I was a bit surprised as I believe that there is a stand on the old track but it was getting moved... watch this space!

the sprint did happen and by all accounts it was a success. from what i saw on the sprinting forums a lot would need to be done to the place in terms of armco and facilities even before a nat b track race license would be granted. would be great as ingilston was before my time but having seen pix it was a great place

Google "Sprint Ingliston" and you come up with a bunch of results suggesting this has been going on for a while.

I've never raced at Ingliston but was there as a spectator for a few years. I'd love to race there, but perhaps the lack of run off and the proximity of things like telegraph poles might put paid to that. How about a club sprint round, or elsewhere a hillclimb like the Mini's used to do?

Spectated at Ingleston loads when I was a kid and got to drive it once in my kart. Would be great to have another track up north to add some variety. IIRC Stirling Moss or Jackie Stewart attempted to get something moving to get motor racing back at Ingleston a couple of years ago but nothing ever came of it. Seems like it would be a really good venue to get re-started. Theres an airport right next door so noise really shouldnt be an issue and its a great central location to make it easy for spectators to get to. I'm taking the Mini there on the 18th of July but thats for the Scottish Modified Show. Figured I'd see how tyre burns and stone chips sit with the "polish, wax and tyre shine" massive

I spectated at Ingliston from the 60s and loved it!
I also did race school sessions there in a Formula Ford and it was a scary place as there is hardly any run off. Even so, I did see the odd F1 car run in single seater races! McLaren, Lotus, Surtees, Fittipaldi etc.
The thing that Jackie Stewart tried to get going was to be called New Ingliston and was to be sitiuated between the airport and the Gogar roundabout I believe. Edinburgh Council in their infinite wisdom blocked the project. Now replaced by Edinburgh's biggest white elephant..... the trams...
